Pat -- In just a moment, I am going to ask you to make a donation to the Democratic Party's One-Term President Fund. You made a donation to the DNC in 2016, so I hope you will give me a chance to explain why this request is so critical. Donald Trump has already raised nearly $130 million for an election that is nearly two years away -- a truly unprecedented amount for a sitting president. The Trump campaign has been spending aggressively, especially on digital ads, to build and energize its base, and to add even more insult to injury, Trump and the RNC are working overtime to ensure another four years of unchecked corruption and reckless power in the Oval Office. We must do everything in our power to fight back, and the truth is, waiting until 2020 to start taking Trump's campaign seriously will be too late. Donald Trump may have an aggressive fundraising machine, but the Democratic Party has you, Pat. Will you make a $3 donation to the One-Term President Fund today? We've set a goal of reaching 50,000 Democratic supporters to help win critical races and take back the White House in 2020. Now, I know you're probably thinking, "But Clayton, it's only February 2019. There are still potential presidential candidates who haven't even launched their campaigns yet. Why should I care about 2020 right now?" That's a great question, and let me give you the honest truth: We simply cannot afford to wait until 2020 to arrive or for the Democratic primary to end before we start pulling out all the stops in our fight to take on Trump and the RNC's fundraising machine. Especially because we know whoever our Democratic nominee is will head into the general election with an enormous fundraising disadvantage. We have to fire on all cylinders starting now in order to give our nominee -- no matter who he or she may be -- a fighting chance against Donald Trump. That's exactly why the DNC is pushing so hard right now and why we've set an ambitious goal of getting 50,000 individual Democratic supporters to step up and make a donation before March 1, 2019. Can you contribute $3 to the One-Term President Fund? It's going to take the dedication of grassroots supporters like you to make sure that Donald Trump stays a one-term president and that his Republican allies are voted out of office. Thank you for standing with Democrats today. Clayton Clayton Cox Finance Director Democratic National Committee |
