When my Congressman broke his promise by voting to take health care protections away from people with pre-existing conditions, I decided to run for his seat. Today, I'm the youngest Black woman to ever have served in the U.S. House. Without your support, campaigns like mine would not have the organizing infrastructure, groundbreaking tools and technology, or bandwidth necessary to flip districts like IL-14. We absolutely must keep the momentum going in 2019 and 2020, so that we can continue making history and elect more Democrats who will fight for our values from the halls of Congress to the Oval Office -- and that starts with tonight's deadline. When I was just eight, I found out that I had a condition that occasionally prevents my heart from maintaining a normal rhythm. I'm incredibly fortunate to be on this Earth today as a healthy 32-year-old, but I will never forget being in and out of medical offices as a kid -- and it's part of the reason why I ran for office. As someone who has both a pre-existing condition and a career in nursing, I wanted to make sure that everyone has access to affordable health care and a quality education no matter their ZIP code. Now, I get to do that every day as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives -- and that is all because of grassroots supporters like you, Pat. We must continue electing Democrats up and down the ballot like me, who will fight for our values from affordable health care to gun control to protecting our environment.
