It got pretty ugly

Democrats
Pacquiao --

Watching the Republican convention this week was a little bit like being punched in the gut for three straight days.

This was their chance for a knockout blow -- three days to give us their best shot. And if you were watching, it got pretty ugly.

If you're like me, you're ready to punch back.

Today's the day to do it. Midnight tonight is the biggest fundraising deadline we've faced this year. Pitch in $5 or more before our critical deadline:

https://my.democrats.org/Tonights-Deadline

Thanks,

Brad

Brad Woodhouse
Communications Director

P.S. -- Romney and the Republicans have outraised us for three months in a row, and if we don't do everything we can to close this fundraising gap before the deadline tonight, the consequences could be devastating for Democrats. Donate today.

Contributions or gifts to Obama Victory Fund 2012 are not tax deductible.

The first $5,000 of a contribution to OVF 2012 will be allocated to Obama for America (with the first $2,500 designated for the primary election, and the next $2,500 for the general election). The next $30,800 of a contribution will be allocated to the Democratic National Committee. Any additional amounts from a contributor will be divided among the State Democratic Party Committees as follows, up to $10,000 per committee and subject to the biennial aggregate limits: FL (17%); OH (16%); PA (13%); CO (11%); NC (11%); VA (11%); NV (6%); WI (6%); IA (5%); and NH (4%). A contributor may designate his or her contribution for a particular participant. The allocation formula above may change if following it would result in an excessive contribution. Midnight deadline

Democrats
Pacquiao --

The saying goes: Once is an accident, twice is a coincidence, three times is a trend.

1. Rep. Todd Akin, Republican nominee for U.S. Senate in Missouri: "If it's a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down."

2. Rep. Paul Ryan, Republican nominee for vice president, co-sponsored a bill with Rep. Akin that would narrow the definition of rape to "forcible" rape (as if there's any other kind).

3. Tom Smith, Republican nominee for U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania: Getting pregnant from rape is "similar" to becoming pregnant out of wedlock.

In case that doesn't tell us what Republicans across the country are standing for this November, they made it clear in their official party platform this week that they support banning abortion, even in cases of rape or incest.

This is an issue for everyone, not just women. We can't afford leaders with these kinds of priorities.

Donate $5 or more before our big fundraising deadline tonight and help Democrats across the country stand up to extreme Republican opponents:

Deadline: tonight

Democrats
Pacquiao --

I'm going to guess your inbox is pretty full today. But think of it this way: This is one of the last fundraising deadlines before Election Day.

With just 10 weeks left to go, we have limited time to make a difference for Democrats nationwide.

If their races were already in the bag, if they already had all the resources they need, and if we didn't have that much on the line this year, I wouldn't ask you to make a donation today.

But the stakes are high, President Obama and many Democrats across the country are in razor-close races, and these candidates need our help before they head into the final months.

So if you can, please make a donation to Democrats before tonight's critical fundraising deadline:

https://my.democrats.org/Tonights-Deadline

Tomorrow morning, may you wake up to an uncluttered inbox -- and may Democrats in races across the country wake up to see that they're exactly where they need to be.

Thanks for making that difference,

Debbie

Their night

Pacquiao --

Tonight was their night.

But our focus must be on tomorrow.

The fundraising deadline tomorrow is one of the last we get to build the campaign it takes to win.

Will you donate $3 or more right now?

I'm proud to be on this team.

Let's go.

P.S. -- With 68 days to go, I'm counting on you to help us keep pace in spite of unprecedented spending on the other side. Pitch in before the big deadline tomorrow.

This could swing the election

Pacquiao --

If we win this election, it will be because of what you did in moments like this to help close the spending gap.

Because this is real: Just last week alone, Mitt Romney's campaign and his allies outspent our side by at least three to one in North Carolina, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Colorado, and Pennsylvania, all states we need to win.

That could swing the election -- but it doesn't have to.

Tomorrow is our biggest fundraising deadline so far. Will you make a donation of $3 or more today and help this campaign hang in there for the final two months?

Tonight Mitt Romney will deliver a speech that millions of Americans will hear.

He's going to say a lot of things about Barack Obama, and belittle what we stand for.

When he does, remember the important role you play in the political process. Remember the kind of man our president is, and the tough choices he's had to make from that Oval Office.

Voters in some very important states are hearing distortions and lies from people who've invested a lot to see Barack Obama removed from the White House.

Fight back. Donate $3 or more and make sure your voice is heard just as loud:

https://my.democrats.org/Deadline-Tomorrow

We wouldn't be here without you. Thank you.

Joe

P.S. -- Deciding that the stakes are high enough to do our part isn't a November 6th decision. It's one I'm asking you to make right now, before tomorrow's big fundraising deadline.

Blatant lies and misrepresentations

Democrats
Pacquiao --

Rep. Paul Ryan's speech to the Republican Convention tonight wasn't grounded in reality.

He leveled false attack after false attack against the President, while neglecting to give a single idea for how to move our country forward.

He also didn't mention that the Romney-Ryan plan would turn Medicare into a voucher program to pay for tax cuts for millionaires, or that their promise to repeal Obamacare would take away access to health care for 32 million Americans. And don't even get me started on how they want to end a woman's right to make her own health care decisions.

If this extreme Republican vision for our country scares you as much as it does me, donate $3 or more now to help Democrats fight back before tomorrow's fundraising deadline.

There are only 68 days left until Election Day -- we're in the home stretch, and every day between now and then is critically important.

What's more -- we have our most important fundraising deadline yet tomorrow at midnight. And how much we raise before then will determine whether or not Democrats have the resources to beat Romney, Ryan, and Republicans across the country.

It's time for us to put our money where our mouths are and call Romney and Ryan out on their blatant lies and misrepresentations. But we need your help to do that.

Extremism

Pacquiao --

This week, Republicans are gathering in Tampa for their convention, posing for the cameras, falling over each other to prove who's the most severe conservative of them all. There's plenty of angry, misleading rhetoric, but not much in the way of real action or results.

Here's what Democrats are doing this week:

-- Welcoming volunteers to hundreds of field offices in all 50 states
-- Logging hundreds of thousands of volunteer-hours of one-on-one voter outreach, over the phone and at the door
-- Organizing thousands of watch parties for our convention next week

That's just one week for our organization, and it's only going to get more intense from here. Because that's the only way we'll win.

Help make sure we have the resources to get it done by pitching in $3 before our critical fundraising deadline on Friday.

Republicans are in the middle of four days of Obama-bashing and truth-distorting attacks -- and they're hoping it will give them a badly needed bump in the polls. The reality is, we're probably going to see it come true over the next couple days. When the Republicans leave Tampa, it's pretty likely they'll be ahead in the horse race.

That's why Democrats aren't wasting any time.

Our organizers and volunteers are working nationwide and around the clock to get our message out. While Republicans are ramping up the attacks and extremism, we're doubling down on our grassroots strategy. For us, the convention is an opportunity to share our message face to face with as many Americans as possible, culminating in a week of grassroots action immediately after the President officially accepts the nomination.

We're building our organization for the only polls that matter: the ones on November 6th. Your support now, before our fundraising deadline on Friday, is critical to making that happen. Donate $3 or more today:

https://my.democrats.org/August-Deadline

Thanks,

Gov. Howard Dean

P.S. -- Every day, every vote, and every dollar is critical. Donate to support Democrats today.

Go win this thing

Pacquiao --

The Republicans are gathering in Tampa -- and we're nearing one of the most important deadlines in this campaign.

There'll be a lot of chatter this week -- a lot of press, a lot of speculation, and a lot of who's-up-who's-down poll-watching. For many people, this election is going to get real very quickly. And I promise you that Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan's backers will be doing some serious spending to take advantage of the spotlight.

Here's my advice:

Keep your eye on the ball.

From an America that respects women, to a health care system that doesn't discriminate against those who need it the most, to an administration that stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the middle class, there's a heck of a lot on the line.

If you can, please donate $3 or more before our big deadline on Friday to help support the final phase of Barack's and my campaign -- and help Democrats up and down the ticket win.

When Barack talks about winning this election, he's not just talking about beating the other guys. He's in it for our kids and grandkids.

So while the Republicans gather to finalize their ticket this week, and while Mitt Romney practices his acceptance speech, let's stick together and go win this thing.

Donate $3 or more today:

Thanks,

Joe

This is how we could lose the election

Pacquiao --

The pundits and talking heads are talking about how badly we're being outraised by the other side. You've heard it from us, too.

Three months in a row, Mitt Romney and the Republican Party have trounced our fundraising totals. And, along with allied outside groups, they're using that cash to try to obliterate our side on the airwaves, outspending us in some battleground states by margins of up to three to one.

The pundits are saying this is how we could lose the election. You know what I say?

When you get knocked down, get up. There's no quit in America. There's nothing we can't do.

This week isn't just the Republican National Convention -- it's also the biggest fundraising deadline this campaign has seen, and one of the last. President Obama and I are counting on you.

Please make a donation of $3 or more today:

https://my.democrats.org/All-on-Us

We've been counted out more than a few times before. It's all on us to prove them wrong again.

Thanks,

Joe

P.S. -- I've seen a lot of good campaigns -- with smart, strong candidates and bold visions for the change we need -- go down, simply because they couldn't keep up. Don't let this campaign be one of them. Donate today.

I've just about had it

Pacquiao --

When it comes to women's rights, I have just about had it with Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan, and the rest of the Republican Party.

Let's get this straight: Paul Ryan, Mitt Romney's running mate, was a co-sponsor of a bill that would narrow the definition of rape. After Republican leadership tried, and failed, to force Rep. Todd Akin out of his Senate race, in part for his extreme views on abortion in cases of rape, the Republican Party is ratifying an official platform that follows Akin's policy lead and supports a constitutional ban on abortions -- even in cases of incest and rape.

They really do want to roll back women's rights -- and it's up to us to stop them.

Tomorrow's the first full day of the Republican convention. Before their first speaker gets up on that stage to peddle these regressive policies, donate $3 or whatever you can today to help Democrats fight back.

If Republicans win in November, you better believe that they're going to try to steamroll their agenda through Congress -- and we have to take them at their word that they won't rest until they've outlawed a woman's right to make her own health care decisions.

There is only one way we can stop them: by making sure Democrats have the resources they need to fight back and win on Election Day.

We have a critical fundraising deadline coming up on Friday -- and the funds we raise before it will determine whether we can help Democrats across the country beat Republicans and their backwards, antiquated views on women's rights.

Mitt Romney: Birther?

Democrats
Pacquiao --

You have got to be kidding me. Yesterday, Mitt Romney said, and I quote:

"No one has ever asked to see my birth certificate. They know that this is the place that we were born and raised."

This actually makes me feel sick when I think about it -- what it means when the leader of the Republican Party, a presidential candidate, stoops to this level.

The scariest part? His comment was met with cheers. It certainly fired up the extreme "birther" elements of the Republican base.

This has to stop, and it has to stop now. There's only one way to do that -- by making sure President Obama and Democrats across the board win on Election Day.

The end?

Pacquiao --

It's August 23rd. And 75 days from now, I'll either be looking at another four years in the White House -- or the end of this opportunity.

I know what's at stake for the parents worrying about health care, the kids who need help to go to college, and the seniors who want a secure retirement.

But we're getting outspent by wide margins in critical battleground states -- and what we do about that today could be the difference between winning and losing on November 6th.

So as we near one of the last fundraising deadlines of this campaign, I'm asking you to pitch in $3 right now:

But I can say without a doubt that this trip to the convention -- complete with VIP passes to events, the chance to meet President Obama, and sitting up front in the First Lady's section while the President speaks -- is the neatest experience I've heard of yet.

And what's better? All you have to do is chip in $3 or whatever you can today to be automatically entered to win:

UNREAL

Democrats
Pacquiao --

Here's the Republican Party's message to women in 2012: No choice. No exceptions.

After 48 straight hours of Republicans falling all over each other calling for Rep. Todd Akin to rescind his ridiculous, ignorant-of-basic-biological-functions comments about rape and abortion, their party just voted to embrace Akin's position by including a constitutional ban on all abortions -- even in cases of rape or incest -- in their 2012 platform.

Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan are now, incredibly, saying they don't agree with the policies of the party whose nomination they're about to accept, but guess what? The Los Angeles Times reported yesterday that the platform was, and I quote, "written at the direction of Romney's campaign."

This is some pretty unbelievable stuff, even by Mitt Romney standards.

It's up to us to make sure voters see through this and know just how dangerously wrong for women these candidates are -- but we can't do it without your help. Donate $3 or more today.

Romney, Ryan and the Republican Party are showing their true colors -- and just how dangerous they will be for women if they're victorious on Election Day. We can't let them continue to say one thing to the public while privately pushing to make it harder for women to control their own bodies.

We know what we're up against. And if we aren't able to give Democrats the resources they need to win in November, women in America stand to lose decades of progress.

I'm not willing to let that happen, and I know you aren't either. Donate $3 or more today to give Democrats the resources we need to fight back against this dangerous hypocrisy:

https://my.democrats.org/GOP-Platform

It's 2012. The entire Republican Party just said it wants a constitutional amendment telling rape survivors they don't get to make their own health care decisions. Democrats across the country are fighting back.

Help us fight.

Thanks,

Debbie

P.S. -- Republicans also included a "salute" in their platform to states implementing invasive and medically unnecessary ultrasound laws for women making personal health-care decisions. You can't make this stuff up -- donate now to fight back.

Your free trip to the convention

Democrats
Pacquiao --

In planning the 2012 Democratic National Convention, we set out to find ways to include more Americans, and to be creative about it.

We've done a lot to follow through on that, and it's all pretty exciting, but here's one thing you should definitely know about: A grassroots supporter and their guest will have VIP access for all three days, meet with President Obama, and witness history up front with the First Lady when the President delivers his acceptance speech.

You can't buy these tickets -- no one gets to do all this stuff. No one but you and your guest, anyway.

Chip in $3 or whatever you can today and you'll be automatically entered to attend the Democratic convention as a VIP guest of the First Family.

If you've never been to a convention, you're in for a treat -- you'll get to meet amazing people, hear inspiring speeches, and experience the awesome energy of the convention hall. Getting to meet with the President and First Lady isn't half bad, either.

So chip in $3 or whatever you can and be automatically entered for a chance to join us in Charlotte next month:

Best contest ever.

Pacquiao --

We've run a lot of contests on this campaign, but you should pay special attention to this one.

Here are three reasons why: The winner gets to go to the Democratic National Convention, meet the President, AND spend time with the First Lady.

Chip in $3 or whatever you can to be automatically entered for a chance to meet her -- and her husband -- in Charlotte.

In addition to sitting up front with the First Lady as President Obama accepts the Democratic nomination for president, the lucky winner and a guest will get airfare, a hotel room, and VIP tickets to all three days of the convention.

You should give it a shot -- chip in $3 or whatever you can to be automatically entered:

Good luck!

"Legitimate rape"

Democrats
Pacquiao --

In a year that has brought us no shortage of stunningly backward statements from Republicans on issues affecting women's health, the GOP Senate nominee from Missouri may have just taken the cake.

This morning, Rep. Todd Akin, explaining his opposition to abortion even in cases of rape, said that victims of "legitimate rape" don't get pregnant because "the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down."

What exactly, Rep. Akin, is an "illegitimate" rape? And what are these unnamed "ways" women have of avoiding pregnancy after being (legitimately) raped?

Now, Akin's choice of words isn't the real issue here. The real issue is a Republican party -- led by Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan -- whose policies on women and their health are dangerously wrong.

I'm outraged at the Republicans trying to take women back to the dark ages -- if you agree, join me in taking a stand for women.

Really, it's deeply concerning that Republicans continue to support legislation that is, quite literally, dangerous for women.

Mitt Romney famously says he would "get rid of" federal funding for Planned Parenthood if he had the chance. His running mate, Paul Ryan, was one of more than 200 Republican cosponsors of a piece of legislation that would have narrowed the definition of rape.

Can you imagine -- the same Republican House that refuses to pass a jobs bill jumped at the opportunity to make life harder for victims of rape?

And what do Romney and Ryan think of Akin's latest statement? They've been trying to distance themselves from it -- but Congressman Ryan has already partnered with Akin on a whole host of issues that restrict women's ability to make their own health care decisions.

This kind of "leadership" is dangerously wrong for women -- and I can't sit by and watch as these out of touch Republicans like Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan, and Todd Akin continue to roll back women's rights.

It's time for us to move forward -- not back -- on women's rights. Take a stand for women now:

This is critical:

Pacquiao --

I just got back from Iowa, where we are being outspent 2 to 1 on the air. Voters there mentioned it to me more than once.

We expect Mitt Romney and the Republicans to outspend us.

What I will not abide is getting outspent by a margin that negates all the hard work our volunteers are doing -- talking to voters, knocking on doors, making calls.

We are in control of that outcome, but our time to close the gap is dwindling. After three consecutive months of being significantly outraised, it couldn't be more urgent.

Will you make a donation of $3 or more?

https://my.democrats.org/Outpsent-in-Iowa

If we win this election, it will be because of what you did.

I don't get to tell you enough how grateful I am.

Thank you,

Barack

P.S. -- In a few weeks, I'll accept our party's nomination for president onstage in Charlotte, North Carolina. I wouldn't be there without you. Any donation you make today automatically enters you and a guest for a chance to join me and Michelle as VIP guests of the convention. Hope to see you there.

You deserve this

Pacquiao --

Four years ago, I watched Barack Obama accept the Democratic Party's nomination to run for president of the United States at the Democratic convention.

I couldn't have been more proud -- of Barack, of my party, and of my country. And okay, I might have cried a little when he spoke.

I can't wait to see what happens at the convention this year. I know that there will be great speakers and lots of excited Democrats ready to win in November. But what I think is the neatest part of this is that one lucky person and their guest are going to have the chance to fly out to the convention and meet my good friends, President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama.

Chip in $3 or whatever you can today to be automatically entered for the chance to win this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

We'll fly you both out to Charlotte and put you up for three days -- and you'll get VIP passes to the convention. And here's the best part: On the night of President Obama's speech, you'll get to sit in the First Lady's section and witness history in the making.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, but you deserve it. Democrats like you have been doing a lot to help us win in November. But our work is far from over.

We know that the only way that Democrats will overcome the record spending on the other side is if we all band together to give our candidates across the country the resources they need to win on Election Day.

So donate $3 or whatever you can today to help us win in November -- and you'll be automatically entered for a free trip to the convention in Charlotte (not to mention the chance to meet the First Lady and the President). I'm excited just thinking about it!

Get your name in the hat today:

P.S. -- Election Day is closer than you think. Donate $3 or whatever you can today to help us cross the finish line and you'll be automatically entered to win.

Pacquiao: Be my guest for the convention

Pacquiao --

Four years ago, Barack stood on a stage at the Democratic National Convention in Denver. He accepted our party's nomination, and then told our country what he intended to do as President.

Let's think for a second about what's happened since then.

Our businesses have added 4.5 million jobs in the last 29 months. The typical middle-class family has saved $3,600 in tax cuts over his first term. We passed historic health care reform. The war in Iraq has ended. It's now easier for women to fight for equal pay for equal work. And gay and lesbian service members can no longer be denied a place in our nation's military because of who they are or who they love.

But we've got to finish what we started. Soon we're gathering for our convention in Charlotte -- and Barack and I would like to meet a few of you there.

Pitch in $3 or whatever you can to help build this campaign in these last 82 days -- and you'll be automatically entered to be our personal guest in Charlotte.

This is a pretty amazing opportunity. The campaign will fly you and a guest to Charlotte and cover your hotel for the three nights you're there. And each night, you'll get some of the best seats in the house to watch the big speeches.

You'll meet Barack, and during his speech on Thursday night, I'd like you to sit with me.

This is going to be an amazing event for our campaign. There is truly only one like it.

So enter for your chance to join us now -- and I hope we'll see you in Charlotte in a few weeks:

https://my.democrats.org/Charlotte-Convention

Are you as fired up as I am?

Michelle

Your VIP seat at the convention

Democrats
Pacquiao --

The Democratic National Convention is coming up in just a few short weeks.

Our conventions are defining moments for our party, a time for Democrats to come together and map out the progress we want to see in the four years ahead. I'm lucky to have been to a few of them, and whether it was watching then Illinois State Senator Barack Obama burst onto the national stage in 2004, or listening to Vice President Joe Biden bring the house down in 2008, there are always big moments that stay with me.

This year, the President and First Lady are inviting you and a guest to come see for yourself -- we'll fly you down, put you up in a hotel, and give you both VIP passes for all three days. Best of all: You'll get to meet President Obama, and join the First Lady to watch him address the nation.

I really wouldn't pass this one up: Pitch in $5 or more to help Democrats across the country this year, and you'll be automatically entered for the chance to be there.

I can promise you that your time at the convention will be like nothing you've experienced. First off, we'll make sure both you and your guest meet the President before his big speech on the convention's final night.

Then, you'll get to watch it -- with our First Lady, Michelle Obama. A front row seat to history.

Over the course of the convention's three days, you'll have VIP access to all the speakers and events -- including San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro's keynote, Michelle Obama, former President Bill Clinton, and Democrats in tight races across the country, like Elizabeth Warren.

Who knows -- you might just find yourself watching another future president.

If you chip in today to boost Democrats across the country and help re-elect the President, you'll be automatically entered for you and a guest to fly to Charlotte and experience this year's convention as VIPs:

Thanks for everything you do -- and good luck.
