Pacquiao -- The saying goes: Once is an accident, twice is a coincidence, three times is a trend. 1. Rep. Todd Akin, Republican nominee for U.S. Senate in Missouri: "If it's a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down." 2. Rep. Paul Ryan, Republican nominee for vice president, co-sponsored a bill with Rep. Akin that would narrow the definition of rape to "forcible" rape (as if there's any other kind). 3. Tom Smith, Republican nominee for U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania: Getting pregnant from rape is "similar" to becoming pregnant out of wedlock. In case that doesn't tell us what Republicans across the country are standing for this November, they made it clear in their official party platform this week that they support banning abortion, even in cases of rape or incest. This is an issue for everyone, not just women. We can't afford leaders with these kinds of priorities. Donate $5 or more before our big fundraising deadline tonight and help Democrats across the country stand up to extreme Republican opponents: https://my.democrats.org/Tonights-Deadline Thanks, Jeffrey Jeffrey Lerner Political Director Democratic National Committee P.S. -- Seriously, how much money we raise by tonight's deadline will determine how many races we can play a role in this fall.
