I was arrested more than 40 times so every person in this country has the right to register and vote

Pat -- I have been beaten, my skull fractured, and arrested more than 40 times so that each and every person in this country has the right to register and vote. Friends of mine gave their lives. We have made too much progress to allow this president and the GOP to fan the flames of bigotry and restrict the right to vote. State by state, Republicans have imposed discriminatory photo I.D. laws, limited early and absentee voting, and dug in against efforts to restore voting rights for people who've paid their debt to society. In the face of racism and voter suppression, grassroots Democrats across the country have stepped up and shown that we refuse to allow ourselves to return to a dark time in our history.
