Pat --
I'm writing to you today because I cannot, in good conscience, sit by and watch Donald Trump win reelection.
I've lived through the consequences of unchecked power, and I fear what's at stake for our country if we reward Trump with another four years in office. He's sown division and chaos at home and damaged our reputation abroad. He is simply not fit for the presidency.
It's on all of us to correct the course of our nation, and to do that, we need a Democrat in the White House leading the way. While the Democratic primary candidates are vying for our party's nomination, the Democratic National Committee, in partnership with President Obama, is working to give our eventual nominee a fighting chance through the creation of the Democratic Unity Fund. This fund will support our nominee at a critical time by replenishing their resources after a long primary.
Trump and the RNC will take any opportunity to undermine our nominee. We'll only make it easier for them if we fail to unite now and build a strong Democratic Party for our nominee and candidates down the ballot. So, Pat, I'm asking you personally:
Will you support our eventual nominee and Democrats everywhere today with a donation of $7 to the Democratic Unity Fund before tonight's deadline?
I've been in public service for decades, and I've witnessed our party's highest highs and lowest lows. The moment our country is in now ranks among the most troubling I've seen, but I'm confident that a strong, united Democratic Party can take on Donald Trump and the Republicans and win.
It's easy to be distracted by the primary, but it's critically important that we as Democrats don't lose sight of what's ahead: A general election against an incumbent president with a massive war chest. If we have any chance at winning, it will require early commitments from loyal Democrats like you.
So, I'm asking once again: Will you join me in supporting the Democratic Unity Fund before tonight's critical FEC deadline by making a $7 donation to our party?
Thank you,
Madeleine
