Donald Trump gave his State of the Union address last night → Let’s make it his last

Last night I gave the Democratic rebuttal to Trump's State of the Union Address. I hope you'll give me a chance to explain why it matters so much to me and how we can make it his last:

Last night I gave the Democratic rebuttal to Donald Trump's State of the Union address -- and I hope you'll give me a chance to explain why it matters so much to me, and how we can make it his last:

I still have a sore spot in my heart after 2016. Watching our party lose Michigan stung -- but it was also a huge wake-up call. In 2018, I ran for governor. We invested early and often in the critical campaign infrastructure and resources we needed to win back my home state. But we didn't just win my seat, Pat -- we won every statewide race in Michigan.

No matter what Donald Trump says about us, I know one thing for certain: Democrats can accomplish anything when we come together and put in the work. And that includes making this his last year in the Oval Office.

The DNC is building the strong party it will take for our eventual nominee and Democrats down-ballot to win nationwide in November. But to push that infrastructure to its full potential, Democrats like you and me need to support the critical early investments that will make or break our path to victory.

Donate $7 to elect Democrats up and down the ballot nationwide this year:

There's one thing I know for a fact: Our party's strength comes from kitchen table issues. Whether it's ensuring everyone has access to good, affordable health care, securing safe roads for folks to commute to work or travel with their families on, or investing in climate solutions that protect the economy and our lives -- Democrats are on the front lines fighting for American livelihoods.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump and his cronies are attempting to take health care away from millions of people, are ignoring our nation's crumbling infrastructure, and are treating climate change as a hoax rather than the international crisis it is. To put it simply: We cannot afford another four more years of this administration's recklessness and ineffectiveness.

We must win up and down the ballot nationwide this year. We have no other choice.

Thankfully, Tom Perez and his team at the DNC know this, which is why they're hiring organizers and other staff in key battleground states like Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. They've also overhauled their tech and data programs, expanded their 50-state strategy, and relaunched the DNC War Room to hold Donald Trump accountable for his lies and broken promises.

While we've been able to get these important initiatives up and running, it's going to take a lot of time, money, and resources to sustain and grow them through November. Each of these programs is vital to Democrats' success this year, which is why the early support the DNC receives from this grassroots team is so important.

Will you make a $7 contribution to the DNC today? Every penny will lift Democrats to victory in states like Michigan and nationwide this year.

Thank you for your support,

Gretchen

P.S. Last night I gave the rebuttal to Donald Trump's latest -- and hopefully last -- State of the Union. Will you donate $7 now to stand with me and Democrats nationwide this year?
