Pat, as a valued member of our party, I need to level with you directly:
Right now, our party's fundraising is simply not where it needs to be to ensure our goal of winning the White House and important seats across the country.
We don't need to match Republicans dollar-for-dollar to win. I've said that before, and it remains true. But so does this: You can only out-strategize, out-organize, and out-work so much. Candidly, there comes a point where we risk being overwhelmed by Republicans' fundraising before the general election even begins.
I am coming to you today, while we still have time to turn this around. Grassroots supporters like you are going to make or break the 2020 election. Taking back the Oval Office from Donald Trump, flipping the Senate, and expanding our House majority are all critical to restoring our democracy and our American values. We must be able to support our candidates and fund the programs that will get us across the finish line in 2020. That is why I am asking you to make your first contribution of 2019 right now, Pat. Your support before it's too late is critical.
Will you make a $7 contribution to the DNC today? We as a party urgently need to pick up our fundraising pace before it's too late for us to compete with Trump and the GOP's massive fundraising machine.
We cannot reward Trump's dangerous, immoral, and frankly embarrassing behavior with another four years in office, but I'm worried that's where we're headed if our fundraising pace doesn't dramatically improve. The DNC is the only party committee dedicated to electing Democrats at all levels of government, and it's critically important that our party is fully-funded as we close out 2019.
Defeating an incumbent president and flipping the Senate would be challenging under most circumstances, but our massive fundraising disadvantage makes these things much more difficult. I sincerely believe we can do that and more, Pat -- but not without you making your very first investment in our party before the year is out.
Donate $7 to the DNC so we can raise the resources to compete with Republicans in 2020. If things don't change, I fear our chances of defeating Trump and his allies will be slim.
Thank you for taking the time to read, and for all that you do.
