My fellow House Democrats and I came to Congress to help the American people: To combat gun violence, lower prescription drug prices, to root out a culture of corruption, and to hold this administration accountable.
We've passed hundreds of bills. We've fought for YOU. And I hope we've made you proud, Pat.
But Republicans are refusing to work with us. Mitch McConnnell has let our bills languish in the Senate, rather than look for common ground. Through Republicans' inaction, too many Americans go without adequate health care or are hurt or killed by gun violence. Progress suffers.
As the year comes to a close, I am more steadfast than ever in my belief that we cannot trust Republicans with four more years in power. I am reaffirming and redoubling my commitment to electing Democrats -- and, as our party faces its biggest deadline of the year, I am asking you to do the same.
I believe in the strength of our party, and I know that together we can defeat Donald Trump and Republicans down the ballot in 2020. So, will you chip in $7 to the DNC before the end of the year so we can build the infrastructure we'll need to win?
There should be no confusion about Donald Trump's chances of reelection as we head into 2020, Pat. The Trump campaign and RNC have built a $300 million war chest -- and they're prepared to use every last dollar of it to reelect him as president.
We cannot let that happen. This administration has made a bigger mess in three years than many make in two terms, and every day Trump remains in office, the challenges for the next president only grow larger.
I know you share our values. It's clear that you understand the urgency of the situation at hand. That's why I'm counting on you to join me in supporting the DNC before Tuesday's end-of-year deadline.
I'll only ask one more time: Will you make a $7 contribution to the DNC before our party's critical FEC deadline on December 31? We must do everything in our power to elect Democrats up and down the ballot next year, but to do that, we need whatever help you can provide right now.
Thanks for being in this with us,
Eric
