Pat, As a committed member of our party, you're playing an important role in our party's success in 2020 and beyond. That's why I'm coming to you today with an update on President Trump's polling numbers. Going into 2020, it's critically important that Americans have a real understanding of the damage Donald Trump has done in his first term. Time and time again, he's put his own interests ahead of the American people's, betraying his oath of office. These things matter, Pat, and people notice -- just look at Trump's latest approval ratings: It's clear that years of damage to our economy, the rule of law, and our reputation on the world stage have had a significant impact on the way Americans view Trump. This is good news -- it means our message is breaking through, and the tactics of distraction and deflection used by Trump and his Republican enablers are not having their intended effect. That said, we would be foolish to assume that Trump's poor polling performance means that 2020 is in the bag -- it's anything but. That's why your support is so important, Pat. Our party is counting on committed members like you to step up and help us build for 2020. So, will you contribute $7 to the DNC so we can get to work? Take a look at how our party is already planning to get ahead for 2020 and why your support -- especially before the end of the year -- is so important: Early organizing work is good organizing work. There's no match for the impact of good, early organizing. It's not something you can just swoop in and spend millions on a few weeks before the election. If we want to build the kind of meaningful relationships that will ensure folks get out to the polls for Democrats next Election Day, we need to be putting in the work now. We already have the programs in place, we just need your help to expand them -- that's why your early support before the end of the year will have such a tremendous impact. Our data and tech improvements will make a big difference -- but they need time. A strong data and tech infrastructure is critical to our goal of reaching every voter. But innovation doesn't happen overnight, and even the best teams -- and trust me, I'd count our team among the best -- need time to plan, code, test, and implement. Our tech improvements already helped make a measurable difference in critical elections in Virginia, Kentucky, and Louisiana in 2019, and if we want to expand the scope of that work, we need to raise as much as we can now. We're competing in every ZIP code. DNC Chair Tom Perez made it his mission to fight everywhere, and that's exactly what we're doing. Flipping Virginia's state legislature for the first time in decades; ousting a Republican incumbent governor in Kentucky; holding a competitive governor's seat in Louisiana: None of these wins were an accident -- they were the result of thorough, careful, early planning, based on the resources we had at the time. The same is true for our 2020 plans, which is why your early support makes such a big difference. All of these crucial investments will give us the best shot at winning seats up and down the ballot in 2020 and beyond. But, we can't fund these programs without your full support. 2019 is almost over, and we're counting on folks like you to make your first contribution before we can hit the ground running in 2020. Will you contribute $7 today to the Democratic National Committee so we can build the strongest party possible heading into 2020? Thanks for being in this fight, Patrick Patrick Stevenson Chief Mobilization Officer Democratic National Committee |
