Pat --
These are tough, unprecedented times. As Democrats, we're faced with a unique challenge: To prioritize taking care of ourselves and others without losing sight of the fact that there's still real, urgent work to be done right now to elect Democrats up and down the ballot in November.
As the DNC's digital organizing director, I wanted to drop you a line and share a few things you can do -- from home, of course -- to keep organizing for Democrats. Here are some things you can do right now:
- Take care of yourself. This sounds like a given, but it's still important to keep this top of mind. In addition to following recommendations around handwashing and social distancing, it means checking in with yourself and those around you. It's truly one of the most important things you can do right now!
- Check your voter registration on IWillVote.com. Now is as good a time as any to make sure you are registered to vote at your current address. There's so much at stake in this election, so being prepared to vote this November is crucial.
- Complete the U.S. Census online, by phone, or by mail. The U.S. Census determines everything from your representation in Congress to the federal resources allocated to support your area, and it's critical that every household completes it.
- Sign up for the DNC's upcoming digital organizing training. Join this week's webinar to learn about some resources that we have available to use from home -- like Mobilize America, a distributed events tool with virtual options; community building via telling your story on social media and Facebook groups; and more!
- Tell your story! Now is a great time to use social media to share your personal story of why you're supporting Democrats. Either in a video, picture, or just words, answer this question: Why do you organize to elect Democrats? Feel free to tag @TheDemocrats on Twitter or Facebook when you post and we'll do our best to get back to you.
I'm so grateful that you're an important part of this community, Pat. I'll be sure to keep you posted on more ways to get involved during these challenging times. Let's keep looking out for one another as we continue fighting for a brighter future.
More soon,
Meg
