I’m going to do everything in my power to ensure that we have a Democratic president come January.

With every passing day, I am more and more convinced that the only way we will defeat Trump and Trumpism is with the politics that gathers people together.

Pat --

I decided to run for president because I believed that as the Democratic nominee, I would be able to unify our party, defeat Donald Trump, and usher in a new kind of politics defined by bringing people together.

I'm proud of the team we built and the race we ran. But it was with those same goals in mind that I came to the conclusion last Sunday that the best way for me to keep faith with the ideals of this campaign would be to step aside and work to help bring our party and our country together.

So while I am no longer seeking the 2020 presidential nomination, I'm going to do everything in my power to ensure that we have a Democratic president come January. I am committed to helping elect our nominee -- whoever that may be -- and Democrats across the country. If you are too, please join me by making a contribution to the Democratic Unity Fund.

Even during this moment of deep division within our country, I am seeing a rising American majority of Democrats, joined by independents, and, yes, some of those future former Republicans, choose a politics defined not by who we push out, but by how many we call in; not by who we exclude, but by how we help people belong.

With every passing day, I am more and more convinced that the only way we will defeat Trump and Trumpism is with the politics that gathers people together.

I am urging everyone who supported me -- or ever even considered it -- to do everything we can to support the eventual nominee -- and the absolutely critical down-ballot races playing out across the country. There is simply too much at stake to retreat to the sidelines.

This is the moment of all moments to insist that we make our politics what it could be. As I've said before -- for all the ugliness of politics at its worst, at its best politics can be magnificent. Because it's not just about policy, it is about bringing out what is best in each of us. It is moral.

If my time in the military taught me anything, it is the power of working with other Americans in common purpose, laying aside our differences in the pursuit of a shared and urgent goal.

It's on all of us to guarantee that the Democratic candidate for president is able to compete with Trump and the RNC's huge war chest, and we can't afford to wait any longer. I'm asking you to make your very first $7 investment in the fund right now.

Democrats nationwide are counting on us.

Thanks for all your support.

Pete
