Pat --
We're coming up on the end of the first quarter of 2020, which means the rest of the DNC's senior leadership team and I are finalizing our plans and strategies for the rest of this election. We know that these are trying times, but to make real change this year we must take a hard look at our finances and decide what we can afford now as well as six months from now.
Monthly gifts to the Democratic Unity Fund of any amount allow us to plan for the months ahead. Because monthly gifts show us where we'll be not just this month, but in a few months' time, we can make strategic funding decisions for our eventual nominee and Democrats down the ballot.
The Democratic Unity Fund represents a promise to our Democratic nominee and candidates everywhere that we'll show up for them when it counts. Monthly gifts to the Democratic Unity Fund allow the DNC to hire and train organizers, upgrade our data and technology infrastructure, and target specific races where Democrats could use our help -- especially the race for president. I'm asking you to commit your monthly support today:
Will you start a monthly sustaining contribution to the Democratic Unity Fund ahead of Tuesday's first quarterly FEC deadline? Our plans for the rest of the year depend on the consistent generosity of folks like you.
Trump and the Republicans have a massive fundraising war chest, and while we don't need to match their totals, we do need to ensure that our candidates are able to compete. That is much easier when we're able to make strategic investments thanks to monthly sustaining gifts. A dollar given to the Democratic Unity Fund now is worth far more than a dollar given right before Election Day, so I hope you'll step up to start a monthly investment in the fund right now, while it's still early in the race.
Will you start a sustaining gift to the Democratic Unity Fund today? With your help, our ambitious goals will be within reach. I hope we can count on you to start your monthly gift before Tuesday's critical end-of-quarter deadline.
Thanks as always,
Joe
