I've devoted my career to public service, Pat. I served as chief of staff to Senator Ted Kennedy, campaign manager for Secretary John Kerry's presidential run, and the executive director of EMILY's List. The common thread in my career is this: I work for things I believe in. Serving as the DNC's chief executive officer will be no different.
The general election is here, and our party has never been more ready to win. Because of the leadership of Chair Tom Perez, the work of countless staff, and the support of grassroots supporters like you, our party is stronger and better-prepared than ever.
That matters, Pat -- because the Democratic National Committee will be the backbone of Vice President Biden's campaign for president and provide critical resources and infrastructure for thousands of Democrats down the ballot. Over the past three years, we have:
- Overhauled our party's data and tech infrastructure through the DNC Data Warehouse and built a state-of-the-art system to help mobilize voters nationwide;
- Increased our investment in state parties and made a multimillion-dollar investment, known as Battleground Build-Up 2020, to hire and pay organizers in 12 key battleground states;
- Filed and joined lawsuits across the nation to protect Americans' rights to vote and established a 24/7 voter protection hotline;
- And dispatched communications staff to battleground states to tell the truth about Republicans' failures on a local level.
What we've built together is proof that we are in the best position possible to win -- but we cannot let up now. It's our job to continue expanding on that work from now until November 3 -- putting it all on the table to elect VP Biden and Democrats to office at every level.
We're ready to win. I hope you are too.
