In turbulent times like the ones we're in right now, it can be tempting to disengage from politics; to take a step back and assume everything will somehow work itself out. We can't fall into that trap, Pat.
The COVID-19 pandemic has shown us the devastating impacts of this administration's failed leadership, and it's clear just how urgent it is that we elect a steady, capable, and honest president. Thankfully, our presumptive nominee Joe Biden and Democrats up and down the ballot are more than capable of leading our country through hard times -- but we need to give them a fighting chance to prove it.
That's why President Obama and the DNC created the Democratic Unity Fund: To support all of our candidates as they gear up for an election with stakes higher than any in our lifetimes. But with the first FEC deadline coming tonight, we need to all come together to ensure the fund is strong enough to deliver on its promise. That's why I'm asking:
Will you contribute $7 to the Democratic Unity Fund before tonight's end-of-month deadline? Democrats nationwide are counting on your early investment so they can take on the GOP at every level.
This was a long primary season -- trust me, I know! But the key stage is beginning right now, as we enter the general election. As you read this, Democratic campaigns across the country are shifting their organizing strategies online in response to the public health crisis, and the Democratic Unity Fund plays a key role in ensuring they have the funds required to make adjustments to their campaigns.
I ran for president because I know we desperately need competent, compassionate leadership in the White House. Now I'm proud to support Joe Biden because I know he'll provide just that. But no candidate can win an election on their own -- and Vice President Biden and Democrats nationwide are relying on the Democratic Unity Fund to help provide the resources they need to win.
So, Pat, will you make a $7 donation to the Democratic Unity Fund before tonight's FEC deadline? It's never been more important to demonstrate your commitment to our shared goals.
Stay safe,
Pete
