Pat, I've been receiving hourly updates on our progress toward our end-of-month fundraising goal today. As I've reviewed our fundraising pace, one thing has become clear: We're still short of where we need to be to fully finance the Democratic Unity Fund.
The Democratic Unity Fund, launched in May with the help of President Obama, is designed to give Democrats at all levels -- including our eventual nominee for president -- the resources they'll need to win in the general election. It'll put whoever wins our party's nomination in the best possible position to defeat Donald Trump and his allies -- but that won't be possible unless it remains properly funded.
Right now, we're still tracking behind, and we seriously need to pick up our fundraising pace to close that gap before tonight's midnight deadline -- the very first FEC deadline of 2020.
President Obama joined the DNC in launching the fund because he knows how vital party unity will be as we head into this general election, and he has called on you to support the fund by chipping in. He knows how important this is.
According to our records, you still have yet to answer his call -- and there is no more important time to make a donation than right now, before tonight's FEC deadline. Will you make your very first $7 investment in the fund before midnight? By making your first contribution directly to the Democratic Unity Fund, you'll play an integral role in electing our eventual nominee for president and Democrats down the ticket. You'll also reserve your Official 2020 DNC Membership Card before they're no longer available.
