Making sure you saw this

This is important and I didn't want you to miss it.
DemocratsJoin us.

Hi, Pat -- just wanted to make sure you saw President Obama's email to you.

Before we know it, we'll be in the thick of the general election. It's critical that we get to work now, while we still have time to organize in key states and make important investments in our infrastructure on the ground.

As a dedicated supporter, I know I don't need to convince you of the importance of this work, so I hope you'll stand with President Obama in supporting the Democratic Unity Fund before tonight's FEC deadline.

Can I count on you to donate $7 to the Democratic Unity Fund before midnight?

In unity,

Tom

Subject: re: My announcement (The Democratic Unity Fund)

The night of the 2008 Iowa caucuses changed everything for my campaign.

To me, it was a more powerful night than the night I was elected president -- and it set my campaign in motion in a way my team and I never could have imagined. From that night onward, we were in a full sprint through the primaries, laser-focused on earning the nomination.

I announced the Democratic Unity Fund alongside the DNC because I know firsthand the immense amount of work and funding it takes to win the general after a competitive primary. No matter which of our Democratic presidential primary candidates ultimately comes out on top, they'll need a well-prepared national party at their back to compete with what we're up against.

From organizing early in the most competitive battlegrounds to overhauling our party's voter data, the DNC has been working to invest in the tools and resources our eventual nominee for president and Democrats everywhere will use to fight and win in just a few months. Leaving that work until after the general election begins is too great a risk for our democracy.

Before the first votes are cast in this primary, will you contribute $7 to the Democratic Unity Fund? Any amount you choose to give today is an investment in the success of our eventual nominee for president and Democrats down the ballot in every corner of our country.

Whoever voters choose as our nominee for president -- plus our entire slate of Democratic candidates -- will count on a well-resourced, well-organized Democratic Party -- and without one, we'll all be facing an uphill battle. Winning this November won't happen on its own. The success of our party this year depends on you.

There is more at stake in this election than any other in our lifetime, Pat, and with the first caucuses and primaries just days away, there has never been a more important moment to commit to party unity.

Donate $7 to the Democratic Unity Fund if you're with me in this fight. There has never been a more crucial time to come together and use our collective power to elect Democrats far and wide.

Thank you for believing in our fight.

Barack Obama
