A note on the Democratic Unity Fund

No matter what, a Democrat in the White House will fight harder for working people than the man in office right now.

The following message is a part of our 2020 Presidential Candidate Series. For more information, see below.

Pat,

Right now, our government works great for giant drug companies, just not people trying to get a prescription filled. It works great for big oil companies, just not everyone who sees climate change bearing down on us. It works great for the special interests, just not people getting crushed by the cost of child care or by student loan debt.

It's corruption, pure and simple. We need to call it out, and we need to fight back. That's why I'm running for president.

If we want to build a country that works for everyone, not just giant corporations and a thin slice at the top, we'll need to defeat Donald Trump -- but we can't stop there. We'll need to win from the top to the bottom of the ticket. That's how we'll make big, structural change, and that's why I've thrown my full support behind the Democratic Unity Fund.

The DNC set up the Democratic Unity Fund to build the tools our party's presidential nominee and candidates down the ballot will use to defeat Trump and the GOP nationwide. But this fund, just like the movement we're building, is only as powerful as the grassroots supporters who are a part of it, which is why I'm asking:

Will you make your first $10 donation to the Democratic Unity Fund?

This fight is personal for me. I grew up on the ragged edge of the middle class in Oklahoma. When I was 12, my daddy's heart attack put him out of work, and we were about an inch away from losing our house. But my mother, who had never worked outside the home, got a minimum wage job answering phones at Sears. That job saved our house, and saved our family.

But our story was only possible because back then, leaders in Washington set the minimum wage so it could support a family of three. Now, the federal minimum wage wouldn't keep a mama and a baby out of poverty -- while giant multinational corporations rake in record profits.

We need a government that works for families, not giant multinational corporations, and that is why I'm in this fight all the way.

No matter who emerges from this Democratic primary as our nominee, I'm going to work as hard as I can to elect Democrats at every level of government this November.

We need the best technology, organizers, and data out there in order to beat Trump. The Democratic Unity Fund can help make that happen, Pat, but only with your urgent support.

I wouldn't ask if it wasn't powerfully important. Please split a $10 donation between my campaign and the Democratic Unity Fund to support our eventual nominee and Democrats nationwide.

Thanks for being a part of this,

Elizabeth
