Pat, I need you with us

It's critical that Democratic candidates in 2020 have what they need to take on Trump and the Republicans -- and that's why we need your support.
Join us.
The following message is a part of our 2020 Presidential Candidate Series. For more information, see below.

Pat,

Here's why I'm running for president: I have big ideas to tackle the most pressing issues we face as a country.

From the climate crisis to economic inequality to corruption of our government, there's so much at stake in 2020. Our nation, our planet, our future cannot afford another four years of a Trump presidency. I hope I'll get the chance to share my ideas and solutions as our party's nominee for president. But no candidate can fix our broken system alone, which is why we all must come together to support Democrats from the top to the bottom of the ticket.

That's where the Democratic Unity Fund comes in. This fund represents a promise that our party's eventual nominee -- not to mention Democratic candidates at all levels, across the country -- will have the full support of the entire Democratic Party after we emerge from a long and expensive primary. If we're going to win this, we need everyone on board. We urgently need to fully support the Democratic Unity Fund and invest in critical organizing, research, and voter protection programs before the most consequential election of our lifetimes.

It's crucial that our eventual nominee for president and Democrats everywhere have every tool they need to take on Trump and the Republicans. Will you split a $10 donation today between my campaign and the Democratic Unity Fund?

My parents instilled in me that there is nothing more important than showing up for what you believe in during the moments that matter. Our country is at a crossroads, and we have two choices: To either sit back and let our democracy fail, or to stand up and fight for our values.

I'm in this for the long haul, and I hope you are too, Pat. Whether our eventual 2020 nominee is me or any one of my fellow candidates, I know that person will be better-suited to lead our party and country out of the crisis we find ourselves in than Donald Trump. But we need to make sure that every Democrat has ample resources -- so they can focus on fighting the good fight, not on keeping up with Republican fundraising.

I've been supporting the DNC for decades because they are the sole organization responsible for winning the White House and electing Democrats in every ZIP code, and I'm not going to stop anytime soon. But their mission is an uphill battle, and without a fully-funded Democratic Unity Fund, that challenge could prove insurmountable, so I'm asking again:

Will you chip in $10 to my campaign and the Democratic Unity Fund to help ensure our eventual nominee and Democrats nationwide have everything they need to fight and win?

Thanks for stepping up with me,

Tom Steyer

Sending fundraising emails like this one is a component of our Democratic candidates' agreement with the DNC to share access to the DNC's database of voter records. As a part of our agreement, every candidate who signs on sends the same number of emails to the DNC's list, with proceeds going to a combination of the DNC and the candidate's campaign. If you're wondering why you're not hearing from your preferred candidate, we may have already sent emails on their behalf or have plans to do so in the future, or they may not have signed on yet.

The DNC is committed to running a fair and transparent primary. This organization is powered by you, and we'd love to hear your ideas. Just reply to this email to send any comments, criticisms, or feedback. Our community management team reads every message from supporters like you. Thanks for supporting our party!
