Back in May of last year, President Obama partnered with the DNC to unveil an important part of our 2020 strategy: The Democratic Unity Fund. He explained how important this fund would be to the success of our eventual nominee and how crucial it is to support the fund early and consistently while our party still has time to meaningfully invest in the infrastructure it'll take to win nationwide.
That is why I'm about to ask you to start a monthly sustaining contribution to the Democratic Unity Fund.
Building out a world-class ground game, overhauling our tech and data, and hiring experienced voter protection, data, and operations staff can't happen overnight. In fact, most of that vital party infrastructure must be in place well before voters have officially selected our Democratic nominee this July. By making early, continued investments from now until Election Day, we can power these programs while there's still enough time to scale them up to their full capacity. That's why your monthly recurring gift started now, while we have fewer resources and more preparation to do, will go even further than the sum of those donations in the final days leading up to November 3.
By becoming a Democratic Unity Fund Sustainer, you can play a huge role in funding this critical work. The window of time in which your monthly gift will make the largest impact is closing, so I'm asking:
Will you start a monthly donation to the DNC's Democratic Unity Fund? Your consistent support from now until Election Day -- of any amount you can afford -- will provide our eventual nominee and Democrats everywhere the strong Democratic Party they'll need to fight and win.
Donating monthly to the Democratic Unity Fund isn't a small commitment, Pat, but it's an incredibly meaningful one. These are just some of the key 2020 programs your monthly investment in the fund will help power:
-
Battleground Build-Up 2020. With your help, we're scaling up our battleground organizing strategy by hiring staff and opening field offices in Arizona, Florida, Michigan, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin -- all of which will be key to ensuring many paths to 270 are clear for our eventual presidential nominee. There was no comparable investment made by the DNC at this point during the 2016 presidential campaign cycle.
-
The Data Warehouse. By completely revamping the Democratic ecosystem's data and tech infrastructure, we've made it possible for our eventual presidential nominee and Democratic candidates down the ballot running for office to access best-in-class voter data more strategically and efficiently than ever before.
-
Fighting to defend every eligible vote. This will be fundamental to winning seats across the country next year and beyond. If folks can't vote, Democrats can't win. That's why the DNC is planning to continue running our national voter hotlines -- both in English and Spanish -- to assist those who have questions or concerns while registering to vote or casting their ballot. For the very first time in our history, we'll be running voter protection hotlines during the Democratic primaries and caucuses in addition to the general election.
The success of our future nominee for president and Democrats nationwide depends entirely upon whether our party has the early, consistent support required to fully fund programs like these. That's possible only if each of us does our part, investing bit-by-bit in the work it will take to push Democrats over the finish line. I know you're the kind of person our party can count on, so I have to ask:
Will you become a Democratic Unity Fund Sustainer? Investing early and consistently in the fund from now until Election Day is our best shot at taking back the White House and seats nationwide, so I hope you'll be a part of this important work.
In unity,
Tom
Tom Perez
Chair
