I've sent you quite a few emails about Donald Trump and the GOP's fundraising advantage, Pat, and that's because I want to be sure that all our supporters are kept well-informed about the immense challenges that we as a party are facing. But the honest truth is that I'd rather be us than them right now. Can you spare me a moment for me to tell you why?
Democrats are leading with our values, and it's paying off. While Trump's campaign and the RNC may be raising historic amounts of money, the GOP has never been more morally bankrupt. Democratic candidates up and down the ballot are speaking directly to the concerns that keep working families up at night, like health care, fair wages, student debt, and so much more. We are winning on those issues, and you can be sure that those Democratic values will be on the ballot this November.
I'm proud to be a Democrat because we are unified. While each of our Democratic presidential primary candidates offers their own unique vision, they all share the same basic belief that it's up to us to build an America that works for everyone -- and every single one of them has pledged to support the eventual nominee once she or he is officially selected at the Democratic National Convention this July. I'm so thrilled by the remarkable depth of our Democratic bench and their strong commitment to winning this thing together. I know this to be true, Pat: Our unity is our greatest strength and Donald Trump's worst nightmare.
Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, I have never been prouder of the way we are running this race. When I first joined the DNC as Chair in early 2017, we had a heck of a lot of work to do in order to earn back folks' trust. Since then, we as a party have followed through on major commitments to make overdue reforms and run an even-handed, inclusive, and transparent presidential primary process. We've returned the power to Democratic voters by reducing the role of superdelegates and by giving the grassroots an unprecedented role in the primary process: For as little as $1, you get to help choose which candidates you want to see on our debate stage. That's putting the power back in your hands.
Those are just a few of the many, many reasons I'm proud to be in this fight with you. All three Novembers since Donald Trump took office have one big thing in common: Democrats won at every level. We've become a 50-state party again, and Democrats aren't leaving any stone unturned, because we know this will be the most important election of our lifetimes.
This will be a tough fight but, thanks to your support, the team and I here at the DNC are ready to win this fight alongside you. When you see Democratic candidates making strides in the polls and flipping competitive seats this November, I hope you'll look back on this election with the pride of knowing that you did all you could to help win our country back.
In unity,
Tom

P.S. None of the incredible strides you just read about happened because of luck -- and they certainly didn't happen overnight. They're the direct outcome of years of hard, often unglamourous work spent organizing and investing in the strong Democratic Party infrastructure our eventual nominees will count on in just a few short months. It's why I email you so often to ask for your support. We've got a lot of work to do, Pat, so I'm asking: Will you donate $7 to the DNC today?
