As someone who's spent the past three years preparing for this election, I mean it when I tell you this: The DNC today looks dramatically different than it did when I came on board at the beginning of this election cycle.
But you don't have to take my word for it, Pat. Just look at this headline from Bloomberg News:
To be completely transparent with you, these big changes are an extremely good thing. In the wake of 2016, our party's primary focus was on evaluating what went wrong, picking up the pieces, and rebuilding our organization into the strongest DNC in modern history. We've made historic progress towards that goal so far -- in huge part because of the Democratic Unity Fund.
The Democratic Unity Fund, launched by President Obama early last year, was designed with the very purpose of preparing us for the political landscape we are facing right now. We've always known that Trump's three-year head start would put our nominee at a disadvantage. But thanks to the Democratic Unity Fund, and the 227,552 people on this team who've supported it, Joe Biden and Democrats everywhere are in a position to compete with their GOP counterparts and win.
Together, we've invested in talent and long-term infrastructure while rebuilding trust with grassroots supporters -- and now that we've reached the peak months of the general election, we urgently need to shift the fight to elect VP Biden and down-ballot Democrats into the highest gear. By fully supporting the Democratic Unity Fund while there's still time, we can move the needle in key races nationwide, including the race for the White House. So, I have to ask:
Will you make your first $7 donation directly to the Democratic Unity Fund to give Joe Biden and Democratic candidates at every level the best possible shot at beating Trump and the GOP? If every person reading this email pitched in even a modest amount, we could fully support the fund instantly.
There's a lot to be excited about when it comes to the progress we've made with the Democratic Unity Fund so far, but can I show you one of my favorite lines from that article I referenced earlier?
"The collaboration has helped Biden's campaign quickly scale up from what staff say was a 'scrappy' operation in the primary to the kind of juggernaut needed to take on Trump's reelection effort."
President Obama launched the fund because he knew that our party's nominee, regardless of who emerged from the competitive primary process, would face an uphill battle. Now, Joe Biden and Democrats running for the Senate, the House, and seats down-ballot are counting on each of us to do our part to keep the Democratic Unity Fund operating at full capacity in this final sprint towards November 3.
According to your donor file, you have yet to make a donation directly to the fund. If you can, I'm asking you to please donate your first $7 to the Democratic Unity Fund to help win the White House and seats all across the country.
Thanks for being there for our party. Your commitment does not go unnoticed or unappreciated. I'm so grateful to have you in our corner.

P.S. If every person who opened this email made a donation to the fund, we wouldn't have to worry about our grassroots fundraising for the rest of this month -- but I know that's not possible for many of the folks on this team given the current crisis we're facing. If you're in a position to do so, please make a $7 donation to the Democratic Unity Fund today.
