Like many of you, I spent this past weekend, on Independence Day, reflecting on the founding ideals of our nation.
We have faced dark moments before in our history. We're in one now. But one of the lessons of history is that often those who fan the flames of hate end up drawing forth the next great wave of progress.
We have a chance -- now, in November, and beyond -- to give the marginalized, the demonized, the isolated, the oppressed a full share of the American dream. We have a chance to rip the roots of systemic racism out of this country.
We have a chance to live up to the words that founded this nation -- that we are all created equal.
We remain locked in a battle for the soul of this nation. But believe me -- truly -- it is a battle we can win.
Which is why, Pat, I'm humbled and honored that you have put your trust in me as your presumptive Democratic nominee. And I'm incredibly honored by the support I've received from you all.
Last week, my campaign team and the DNC announced that, together, we were able to outraise Donald Trump and the RNC in this year's second FEC fundraising quarter. This is an incredible feat, Pat, and I want you to know that our party's success is a direct result of your commitment.
But one of the things I'm most proud of is the grassroots movement our party is building together. We've been propelled by the commitment of folks on this team, chipping in a few bucks at a time, whenever they can. The response we get to emails like this one is a central piece of our success. This is your victory, Pat.
This surge in momentum is now even stronger than it was just a few months ago, in no small part thanks to all who have joined this team and invested in our party's success.
But thanks to Donald Trump's three-year head start, we still trail his fundraising advantage when it comes to the resources Democrats need to win this thing. We have a strong trajectory, and if we outraise Trump and the RNC again this month, we'll be in a good position headed into the fall.
Pat, can you help keep up the momentum? We're going to need it if we want to outraise Trump and his allies again in July and close their cash on hand gap. If you can split a $10 donation between my campaign and the DNC today to help us keep up this pace in July, I may give you a call to thank you myself.
I understand what these dollars mean. When facing uncertainty and fear, you all chose hope. I will never forget that.
And I promise that when I'm president, I won't let you down. Together we'll bring real change. As I've said many times, this is the United States of America. And there's never been a single thing we haven't been able to do -- when we've done it together.
I'm in awe of what this team has been able to accomplish together. Just a few months ago, people were certain that the Democratic Party could not come together, unite, and build a campaign stronger than Trump and the GOP's operation.
They were wrong. Together, we are making huge dents in Donald Trump's war chest. We get closer to catching up every month, and we are diminishing his three-year head start.
And that's how we'll make sure he is only a one-term president.
I'm so grateful for all you've done, Pat -- and all I'm sure you'll continue to do in this fight to move our nation forward. If you can, please split a $10 contribution between my campaign and the DNC today to ensure that candidates up and down the ticket have the resources they need to win.
