Tonight at midnight marks the Democratic Party's first FEC deadline of 2019. And the truth is, right now the DNC is still behind on January's goal. As a former chair of the DNC, I can tell you firsthand that falling behind on a fundraising goal like this one has serious consequences for our party. It means that important investments in organizing, data, and voter protection efforts can't be made. It also means that the work the Democratic Party is doing to lay the foundation for success in 2020 -- and maximize our chances of replacing Trump in 2020 with a leader we can be proud of -- simply doesn't get done. Just look at his government shutdown -- he used people's lives as leverage and shut down our government as a negotiating tactic. And he said he was "proud" to do it!
