 Pat -- In just a moment I am going to ask you to contribute to the Democratic Party and have your donation matched before tonight's critical end-of-month fundraising deadline. I hope you will give me the opportunity to share why your investment in our party this month is so important. The DNC is the only official party organization dedicated to winning the White House back from Donald Trump in 2020. Our party is already hard at work investing in the tools, data, and infrastructure it will take to support our eventual Democratic nominee in their race for the presidency. How prepared we are to beat Trump and the GOP all depends on the amount of support this grassroots-powered organization receives from committed Democrats like you.  The reality we face is this: We're currently behind pace on our January fundraising goal -- and we absolutely cannot afford to come up short as we prepare for 2020. Since the day Trump took office we have seen him call the press the enemy of the people, stack the courts with far-right judges, obstruct the rule of law, and attack the basic notions of decency and fairness -- and he's not slowing down. His temper tantrum-induced government shutdown that lasted 35 days proves just that. The fight to take back our country from Trump's unhinged presidency and send a Democrat to the White House is one that all of us must take on together. That starts with equipping candidates with the latest data, tools and technology, strengthening our state parties in all 50 states, and investing in essential voter protection programs to keep our elections fair and free. The DNC's fundraising goals are not arbitrary, Pat. They are precisely calculated benchmarks that we use to make important decisions about how much support we can provide our Democratic candidates. Donald Trump has already raised more than $100 million for his re-election campaign, and now that he and the RNC have officially joined forces, it's going to take the dedication of grassroots donors like you to make sure he's nothing more than a one-term president. The only way we can truly put a stop to Trump and Republicans' destructive and morally corrupt agenda is by hitting our critical goal, which is why I am coming to you with a final request: Will you make a $3 contribution before tonight's important end-of-month deadline to have your support matched and build the infrastructure it will take to win critical races nationwide this year and send a Democrat to the White House in 2020?
