This bill will end the separation of families:

The horror happening in my hometown right now is a sharp contrast to the community I grew up in.
DemocratsJoin us.
I was born and raised in Brownsville, Texas -- the town where children are currently being held after they were torn away from their parents at a federal detention facility.

The horror happening in my hometown right now is a sharp contrast to the community I grew up in. I lived five blocks from the border and regularly went back and forth between Brownsville and Matamoros, a border town in Mexico. I'd go to visit friends and my peers who went to school with me.

Before Donald Trump, that was the norm in our community -- it's what made it so great. But now, because of this president's cruelty, he is only causing fear in the town I grew up in and attacking those I love the most.

Separating children from their parents at the border is against every American value that I've ever been taught.

Trump has made repeated attacks on those values -- but quite frankly, it only mobilizes us to fight back. Today is one of those days we need to fight back, Pat.

Senate Democrats have introduced the Keep Families Together Act -- legislation that would end the inhumane practice of separating families at the border. Add your name to tell the Senate to pass this bill immediately.

I'M IN

This crisis has been manufactured by the Trump administration. Tearing children from their parents is a choice made by Trump, and he has the ability to stop it.

No matter what Trump and his allies may claim, this is not standard practice. My mother came to the U.S. from Mexico in the 1950s at the age of two. She was undocumented -- yet she wasn't separated from her parents when she got here.

Thousands of children have already been ripped away from their parents at the Trump administration's direction. Right now it is on every single one of us to stop this inhumane policy and reunite these children with their families.

Tell the Senate to pass the Keep Families Together Act -- legislation that will stop the Trump administration from separating families at the border.

Thanks for taking a stand today.

P.S. Donald Trump, his administration, and his party have called people like me and my neighbors "rapists" and "criminals." He's said we're in gangs, and he's tried to make people afraid of us. He's tried to divide us and pit us against each other. Don't let him get away with it -- add your name right now to stand against Trump's divisive policies and demand the Senate pass the Keep Families Together Act.
