What we do before tonight's deadline matters to future generations

If we have any chance of saving our economy, nation, and planet from climate change, we must defeat Donald Trump in 2020. That work starts before tonight's deadline.

DemocratsJoin us.
Donald Trump withdrawing the United States from the Paris Climate Agreement wasn't just reckless or stupid or ideological -- it was dangerous.

Climate change is already hurting Americans every day -- making it harder for farmers to put food on our tables, harder to protect our families from natural disasters, harder to make sure our kids have clean air and clean water. And then President Trump pulls out of the only international agreement that committed almost every country on earth to do something meaningful about it.

Newly elected Democratic members of Congress are fighting to reverse some of this President's mistakes, but others will haunt us for decades. On climate, the math is clear: Our planet simply cannot afford four more years with Donald Trump in the White House. That's why I have to ask:

Before tonight's critical deadline, will you donate $3 to the One-Term President Fund to ensure we elect Democrats from local office to the Oval Office in 2020? Whatever you are able to give will make an incredible difference.

Here's the thing: Climate change is a real threat and it is already impacting the United States. Earlier this month, I testified along with the former Secretary of Defense at a congressional hearing to speak about the urgent threat climate change poses to our national security.

I shared that when I was Secretary of State, I visited Naval Station Norfolk. It's the biggest naval installation in the world, and the land beneath it is literally sinking. Sea levels on the East Coast are rising twice as fast as the global average, putting our naval fleet at risk. Historic droughts are also exacerbating instability in places that are already breeding grounds for violent extremism.

This is a national security threat -- one the Pentagon and even President Trump's Director of National Intelligence warn about. But too many -- peddling "alternative facts" and led by a President who calls climate change a "hoax" -- don't want to talk about it, let alone do anything about it.

Time and time again, the Trump administration has shown us where it stands when it comes to protecting the environment and fighting climate change: They have no policy other than to do what the polluters want, and then some!

If we have any chance of saving our economy, nation, and planet from climate change, we must defeat Donald Trump in 2020. That work starts before tonight's deadline.

Donate $3 to the One-Term President Fund before midnight tonight to help kick Donald Trump and his GOP allies out of office. What we do right now will have an enormous impact on future generations.

Thanks for your help,

John
