This is an uphill battle:

Closing the gap on President Trump's and Republicans' lead is still within reach, Pat, but only if we hit this goal together.

DemocratsJoin us.
I've run against a sitting president before and came within inches of beating him, Pat, so believe me when I tell you that it's an uphill battle.

We fought our hearts out together in 2004. We organized communities and rallied voters across the country. But incumbency is a home-field advantage -- an advantage that Donald Trump is enjoying this very moment.

By the time Democrats have officially selected our party's nominee next July, President Trump will have had a three and a half-year head start in fundraising and organizing for another four years in the Oval Office. The DNC is actively working to narrow that lead by investing in organizing in key battleground states earlier than ever, overhauling Democrats' tech and data, and launching groundbreaking projects like the War Room that'll help keep President Trump's poll numbers low. These essential programs will all contribute to the strong party infrastructure our eventual 2020 nominee and Democrats nationwide will rely on to win -- but we cannot fund them properly unless our party reaches our April fundraising goal by midnight tonight.

Closing the gap on President Trump's lead is still within reach, Pat, but only if we hit this goal together. That's why I'm asking you to make your first donation of 2019 before midnight.

Contribute $3 to the DNC's One-Term President Fund before tonight's critical end-of-month fundraising deadline. Building a strong Democratic Party capable of beating President Trump and Republicans can only happen with the help of grassroots supporters like you.

President Trump has attacked fundamental parts of our American system, like a fair and free press and decades-old alliances. We can't hand President Trump and Republicans four more years of this chaos, Pat, which is why your support today, before our party's midnight deadline, has never been more critical for our eventual 2020 nominees, our country, and our future.

The DNC is the only party organization responsible for electing a Democratic president next year, and our nominee won't stand a chance against President Trump and the RNC's fundraising machine unless we come together to level the playing field right now -- not next year, or even next month. Hitting this fundraising goal will keep us on track to do that, which is why I'm asking you directly:

Will you make a $3 donation to the One-Term President Fund before tonight's deadline if you're as committed as I am to beating President Trump and the GOP in 2020? The fight to elect a Democratic president and win seats across the country next year will be hard, but I believe we can win if we come together now.

I hope you'll join the fight beside me, Pat.

John

John Kerry
68th Secretary of State
2004 Democratic Nominee for President

P.S. I'm one of only a handful of people who can say they've run against an incumbent president before, so take it from me: We have to invest in building our party's strength now, even before we officially choose our Democratic nominee next July. Donate $3 before midnight to help put our eventual 2020 nominee and the rest of our Democratic candidates in the best possible position to take on Republicans and win.
