Earlier today, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein announced new charges against 12 Russian intelligence officers accused of hacking the Democratic National Committee and the Clinton campaign in 2016. This indictment from Special Counsel Robert Mueller makes it clearer than ever: The Russian government attacked our democracy in 2016, and the DNC was a primary target of that attack. We have also learned just how vast this operation was -- including Russian intelligence officers' intrusion into the website of a state election board and theft of information related to approximately 500,000 voters. That's not just an attack on the DNC. That's an attack on American voters. This is not a witch hunt and it's certainly not a joke, as Donald Trump has desperately and incorrectly argued in the past. Trump and his Republican enablers' efforts to discredit these established facts only embolden Putin's Russia and invite further attacks on our country. The American people deserve to know the truth, and the special counsel's investigation is ongoing.
