We've witnessed a hostile takeover of the Republican Party by Donald Trump, but make no mistake: it is a takeover. The Republican Party has allowed itself to become the party of Trump. The Republican majority in Congress is complicit as Trump creates a crisis on the border, tries to destroy health care reform sending health care costs soaring, accumulating crippling debt, and doing nothing to address stagnant wages -- all while this president works overtime to polarize and divide us as never before. But here's the silver lining: We are not frozen in a nightmare, Pat. We don't have to accept things as they are. We can do something about all of this. We can put together a powerful door-to-door, energized, political effort to elect Democratic candidates who are out there fighting for our values if we support them early this cycle.
