Pat -- Later today, Donald Trump is set to announce his Supreme Court nominee -- putting at risk the constitutionally protected right to safe, legal abortion care for millions of women nationwide. If Justice Kennedy's replacement is an extreme conservative, it is very likely that the Supreme Court will overturn Roe v. Wade, allowing Republicans to criminalize abortion. Before Trump's nominee appears in front of the Senate, it is critical that we call on our senators to vote no on any nominee who threatens abortion rights. Add your name right now to demand an independent Supreme Court justice who will not criminalize abortion and will work to uphold Roe v. Wade. Incessant attacks on reproductive freedom undermine women's health, safety, and economic independence. Women simply cannot afford to go back to the days where abortion was illegal -- and Trump's plan to stack the court with another far-right extremist will do just that. He wants the Supreme Court to serve as a rubber stamp for his deeply anti-woman and anti-choice agenda. Make no mistake: Punishing the women who get abortions will not make the procedure go away. Instead, women will be forced to seek unsafe alternatives, endangering their health and even their lives. Rather than eroding decades' worth of progress, the Supreme Court should work to protect and expand reproductive rights. The battle to safeguard hard-won victories like Roe v. Wade is a fight we cannot afford to lose -- and our senators need to hear our call right now before they cast their votes on Trump's nominee.
