Joe Biden was the best vice president I could have asked for. In the eight years we spent together in the White House, I gained a brother.
But I want to make one thing very clear, Pat: I'm not urging you to support the Biden-Harris ticket simply because Joe is my friend. I'm emailing you today because what's at stake in this election is whether or not our democracy endures.
This election has always been about more than just Joe Biden, or even the man he's running to replace. It's about healing our country through the toughest challenges we've faced in generations -- and for that to happen, we must use every waking moment of these final four weeks to elect Democrats to offices from Congress all the way down to the state and local levels. That's exactly why I'm coming to you with a sincere request:
Please, Pat: Chip in your very first $7 directly to the DNC's Democratic Unity Fund. Every penny you can afford to contribute will be put directly towards the vital work that will help elect Joe, Kamala, and Democrats in tight races all across the nation. With each passing day that folks vote early and return their vote-by-mail ballots, the number of votes that Joe, Kamala, and Democrats nationwide still have time to earn grows smaller and smaller. Pat, that means it's no exaggeration to say that a donation made today can be spent more effectively and make an even bigger difference than that same gift could in the final few days before Election Day.
I launched the Democratic Unity Fund last year because I knew then what we all know now: This election will be more important than any in our lifetimes -- and that's not a statement I take lightly. So, even if you can only spare a modest contribution, I'm urging you to donate like our democracy and our future depends on it.
Will you make a $7 donation to the Democratic Unity Fund right now? We're quickly running out of time to make a difference in this election, so there will not be a more important, impactful time to chip in than today.
Grateful you're in this fight,
Barack
Barack Obama
P.S. The folks in power are hoping that voters across the country will get cynical and sit this election out. We have to prove them wrong by organizing, mobilizing, and chipping in whatever we can to turn out as many Democratic voters as possible through November 3. If your budget allows, please make a $7 donation to the Democratic Unity Fund to power this fight through the final stretch.
