We're not on track to meet our May fundraising goal. Let me explain why that's not just bad for the DNC, but bad for our shared goal of electing Democrats in 2020.

Pat, I'm about to ask you to make your first contribution of 2019 ahead of Friday's critical May fundraising deadline. This is one of our party's most important milestones in our fight against Trump and Republicans, so I hope you'll hear me out: When I talk about important fundraising goals, I'm not just making up a reason for supporters like you to donate. Our team carefully calculates our monthly fundraising goals, which then allows us to budget for all the work we're doing to win elections across the country. It's a very meticulous process, which is why we take fundraising goals like this one so seriously. Right now, we're not on track to meet our May fundraising goal. That's not just bad for the DNC, but bad for our shared goal of electing Democrats in 2020. When we fall short of our monthly or quarterly goals, the critical work that needs to be done in order to elect Democrats can't happen, because the money simply isn't there. We saw it happen this past February, when we fell short of our goal for the month -- and it had severe, immediate consequences. We were forced to shrink the size of Organizing Corps 2020 -- our new program to recruit, pay, and train the next generation of organizers. That's fewer young organizers on the ground knocking on doors, registering voters, and recruiting volunteers in the most competitive states in the country. If we come together before Friday to hit this goal, we can make up some of that ground. Can I count on you to chip in $3 before Friday's deadline? We absolutely must keep pace with the RNC if we want to have any shot at winning back the White House in 2020, taking back the Senate, holding our House majority, and electing Democrats to state and local governments across the country. While the RNC may have more money than us right now, I know that if we all work together, we can build the strength to beat them on Election Day.
