I'm disgusted. Republican Governor Brian Kemp has moved from suppressing voters to suppressing women, Pat. Kemp just signed one of the most restrictive abortion bans in the country into law in Georgia. This is a watershed moment for women's rights across the country -- and we need your help. In four states, Ohio, Kentucky, Mississippi, and now Georgia, Republicans are trying to make it illegal for a woman to get an abortion after as little as six weeks -- before many women even know they are pregnant. This law is the latest in a flood of anti-woman bills coming from Republican-controlled legislatures as a part of a scheme to overturn Roe v. Wade -- and we must fight back. Women's reproductive rights are first and foremost a health care issue. A patient's health should drive important medical decisions, not a politician's beliefs -- and those decisions should be made among women, their families, and their doctors. A central tenet of our Democratic party is to keep abortion safe and legal in this country. Trump and his Republican allies in states like Georgia have made one thing clear: They are willing to put women's lives at risk in order to bar access to safe, legal abortion. We can't go back.
