There are only 48 days until Election Day, Pat -- so I want to take a moment and explain what the DNC is doing right now to support candidates in the final sprint. We're approaching this year's midterms differently than we have in years past -- with an aggressive push to organize our base communities and support state party infrastructure. We've spent the entire summer laying the groundwork and the infrastructure for that plan. Here are just a few programs we're running to mobilize and organize voters: INVESTING IN DATA Let me start by telling you that the DNC is spending $0 on television ads this election cycle in order to prioritize investments that will pay dividends for years to come. One of those investments is the purchase of 94 million cell phone numbers -- data that the DNC can provide to state parties to boost their critical voter contact programs. That will help our party win elections not just in 2018, but in election cycles to come. LAUNCHING TEAM BLUE We're partnering with five progressive organizations to make it easier for people to volunteer for campaigns at every level. Together, we've launched Team Blue, the DNC's first national volunteer program to help campaigns -- from state legislature to U.S. Senate races -- get the volunteers they need in order to contact as many voters as possible before Election Day. PRIORITIZING VOTER PROTECTION Perhaps most importantly, the DNC has created a permanent voter protection infrastructure, including a full-time voter protection hotline, recognizing that voter suppression is an ongoing part of the Republican playbook. They try to win elections based on how few people turn out to vote -- but Democrats do things a different way. We are committed to mobilizing millions of voters this fall because every single eligible voter deserves to have their say in this year's elections. THE FIGHT AHEAD Time is critical, Pat: With only 48 days until Election Day, we have a lot of work to do. Right now, Democratic campaigns and state parties are executing on the initiatives highlighted above -- and they are counting on our support this month to reach every possible voter.
