I want you to meet these incredible Democratic candidates for governor who could make history this November: Stacey Abrams could be the first Black woman to become governor in the United States. In 2010, Stacey became the first woman to lead either party in the Georgia General Assembly and the first African American to lead in the Georgia House. She has stopped legislation to raise taxes on the poor and middle class and fought efforts to roll back reproductive health care -- which is exactly the type of leadership Georgia needs. Civil rights leader Ben Jealous has the opportunity to become the first Black governor of Maryland in November. At age 35, he was named the youngest National President and CEO of the NAACP in the organization's history, leading efforts to end mass incarceration and expand civil rights. His tireless work for equality will make him a great governor. Andrew Gillum could make history by becoming the first Black governor of Florida. In 2003, he became the youngest person ever elected to the Tallahassee City Commission at just 23 years old. With decades of public service and transformative plans to expand health care, improve public education, and protect our environment, Andrew will prioritize a progressive agenda as governor. Representation matters, Pat -- and candidates like Stacey, Ben, and Andrew are making this the most talented, diverse slate of Democratic candidates for office in our party's history. Democrats nationwide are ready to win -- but they can't pull it off without your support. September is a critical month for campaigns, Pat -- it's when candidates and state parties are entering the sprint toward Election Day.
