 A couple weeks ago, I was humbled to be chosen by Florida Democrats as their nominee for governor. If I win this November, I'll be our state's first Black governor and the first Democratic governor in two decades. But if we win in 54 days, it won't be because of me. It will be because we rallied millions of Floridians around a progressive vision of a state that works for everyone. Pat, I firmly believe that if we can get our message out, we will win this election. I know that's also true for hundreds of other Democratic candidates like me running in close races that will come down to the wire. Time is running out to help us win -- and your support now would go further than your support at the last minute. So I'm asking: You gave to the Democratic Party in the past. With only 54 days left until Election Day, can I count on you to make your first $3 donation this cycle? My mother was a bus driver and my father worked in construction. On the weekends when my dad wasn't at work, he'd set up a stand to sell fruits and vegetables. My parents -- who raised seven children on working-class incomes -- continue to be the best examples of hard work in my life. They instilled in me the perseverance it will take to win in November. The GOP in Florida and across the nation is ready to empty its pockets to keep Democrats like me out of governors' mansions, state and local governments, and Congress. We must show them that money doesn't vote, people do. Our job between now and Election Day is to mobilize millions of Democratic voters to have their say in this year's midterms.
