It simply read: "Unite." For me, this one word sums up everything our party needs to do right now. Our unity as Democrats will help us win back state legislatures and governors' mansions this year, elect Democrats to Congress in 2018 who will restore our checks and balances, and make Trump a one-term president in 2020. When the Democratic Party is united, we are Donald Trump's worst nightmare. Grassroots Democrats have already got the ball rolling. You're taking to the streets to protest, to the phones and town halls to make Republicans hear your voice, and to the ballot box in places like Delaware, where Stephanie Hansen resoundingly defeated her GOP opponent to maintain Democratic control of the state legislature. That's a really great start. But we have so much more work to do to rebuild and strengthen our party from the bottom up. Over the next few weeks, I'm going to sit down with our leadership team to analyze all of our party's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and vulnerabilities -- so we can fine-tune what already works and close whatever gaps exist between where we're at and where we need to be. And I'm going to be coming to you for your feedback and support. But there's one thing that I know we need to get started on building right away: the 50-state strategy that will set us up for victory in every community all over this country.
