The threat facing our democracy right now is unlike any we've seen before, Pat. Trump and Republicans have repeatedly undermined our most important values and institutions, but here's the good news: The work we must do to correct the damage they've caused is work we've done before.
I've chaired the DNC and run a presidential campaign, so I know what it takes to win up and down the ballot. I can tell you with certainty that if we want to set ourselves up for success in 2020 and beyond, we need to get to work right now.
I know this grassroots team will do everything in its power to make sure our eventual nominee and Democrats nationwide have the tools they need to win next year. That means important investments in our party's infrastructure, from organizers on the ground in key states to improvements in technology. We represent the values of so many Americans, and the scope of these investments must match the breadth of our vision.
But we need your urgent help to get there. Will you make a $7 donation before tonight's deadline so the team at the DNC can start off strong heading into next year? I would not be asking if it weren't critically important.
The DNC has placed renewed emphasis on the 50-State Strategy over the past two years, and Democrats are fighting -- and winning -- everywhere. Look no further than our historic wins in Kentucky and Virginia just weeks ago. Our candidates will need even more support behind them if we're going to take on Trump and the RNC in the coming year.
It's more critical than ever that we reach our party's fundraising goal before our November deadline. We need to work ahead if we're going to compete with the RNC's massive fundraising machine, and with 2020 just a month away, we're running out of time to make the kind of early investments that have a major impact in the general election. That's where you come in.
I don't need to remind you of what's at stake, Pat, so I'll only ask once more: Can I count on you to make a $7 contribution to the DNC before their fundraising deadline tonight?
Thanks for being a part of the team,
Howard
Governor Howard Dean
79th Governor of Vermont
