Without a strong DNC, our nominee's chances of beating Trump and Republicans' reelection machine could be dead in the water. Let me tell you why, Pat: Donald Trump has been campaigning for reelection since the day he took office. The RNC has thrown their full support behind him, and together they've amassed a staggering war chest -- raising over $200 million this year alone. If we're going to have any chance at beating Trump, the GOP, and their massive incumbency advantage, the DNC will need to be ready to spring into action the moment the general election begins. With less than a year to go until then, our party is already investing in the early organizing and data infrastructure we'll need to win up and down the ticket next year -- but we need to hit our fundraising goals if we want to fully implement these programs and put our party in the best position possible. The team at DNC HQ tells me that if 34 more Democrats in Carrollton make a donation, we'll be on track to hit our goal before Saturday at midnight. We can't risk falling short, Pat, so I am asking you to step up today. Can you donate $3 before Saturday's midnight deadline to help narrow Trump's lead and elect Democrats up and down the ballot? Any amount you donate now, while it's still early in the race, will make a bigger impact than that same amount given right before Election Day.
Right now, all of our 2020 candidates are traveling the country and meeting with voters, sharing policy ideas, and striving to hit their own fundraising goals. As all of that happens, the DNC is busy preparing for the fight of our lifetimes: Defeating Donald Trump and Republicans in the general election. As a former DNC chair, I can tell you firsthand how much work there is to do between now and next July. Every piece of our 2020 plan -- from investing in our 50-state strategy to building our Data Warehouse -- is pivotal to winning the Oval Office and seats in all 50 states. But that work can't stay fully funded if our party falls short of its fundraising goals. These goals aren't arbitrary: Folks at DNC HQ carefully calculate these benchmarks to budget for the work that must be done to defeat Donald Trump and his cronies. Your support could mean the difference between winning and losing in 2020. So, I have to ask one more time: Thank you for your commitment to our party, Howard Gov. Howard Dean P.S. I've run for the Democratic nomination for president before, so let me tell you, Pat: It's an exhausting few months on the road, and candidates must stay laser-focused on their individual campaigns. That is why the work the DNC is doing to help Democrats win in the general election is so important. Your gift now, while it's still early, makes an even bigger impact now than it would right before Election Day, so please donate $3 before Saturday to help our party stay on track to beat Trump and the GOP in 2020. |
