This is a pivotal moment for our party, Pat

Last night four states nominated candidates for this fall's general election and Missourians scored a massive victory for organized labor. Here are the highlights:

DemocratsJoin us.
Last night, voters in Missouri, Kansas, Michigan, and Washington nominated candidates for this fall's general election and Missourians scored a massive victory for organized labor. Here are a few highlights:
  • In Michigan and Missouri, Senators Debbie Stabenow and Claire McCaskill were nominated for re-election; they're two of 10 Democratic senators up for re-election in states Trump won.
  • In Kansas, Laura Kelly won the Democratic nomination for governor. If elected, she'd become Kansas' second woman governor in history.
  • Michigan Democrats nominated Gretchen Whitmer as their candidate for governor this fall, bringing the total of woman Democratic nominees for governor to eight: Gretchen Whitmer (MI), Laura Kelly (KS), Paulette Jordan (ID), Kate Brown (OR), Lupe Valdez (TX), Stacey Abrams (GA), Michelle Lujan Grisham (NM), and Janet Mills (ME).
  • Also in Michigan, Rashida Tlaib won her primary in the state's 13th District and is poised to become the first Muslim woman ever to serve in Congress.
  • Missourians struck down Prop A, a viciously anti-union "right-to-work" law. This is a huge win for the labor movement and working families across Missouri.
I'm so proud of the historically diverse slate of candidates -- many of whom are running for the first time -- that Democrats across the country are nominating this year. It shows that the energy and excitement is all on our side. But we can't ignore that in primary after primary, the Republican Party is nominating Donald Trump's preferred candidates -- and we certainly can't ignore that the Republican Party is the party of Donald Trump.

We have a real shot at taking back Congress and flipping legislative seats across the country in November -- and we better, because the Republicans we're running against are as bad as they've ever been. Our Democratic candidates need our support to hire organizers, take their message to voters, run voter registration and protection programs, and invest in technology to mobilize millions of Democrats by Election Day. None of that will happen without your help.

You've contributed to the Democratic Party in the past, -- thank you, Pat. We appreciate your support. Can I count on you to renew your support and contribute $3 right now to help elect Democrats in all 50 states?

The 2018 midterm elections are a pivotal moment for our party. We could finally have a real check on Trump, and we could ensure that Congress, state legislatures, and local offices work for the people again, not just the top one percent.

But let me be clear: Winning in November isn't going to be easy, Pat -- we have a long road ahead of us. Our opponents are determined, and willing to take extraordinary measures to hold on to their power. We must all work together to support our candidates and state parties who are building out their organizing efforts right now.

Can I count on you to chip in $3 today to support Democratic candidates nationwide? We have to invest in these campaigns right now if we're going to have a shot at winning in November.

Thanks for being part of this,

Tom

P.S. Last night's primaries are once again proof that we have a historic opportunity this year to elect an unprecedented number of women, people of color, and first-time candidates. Help make it happen -- chip in $3 and let's support Democratic candidates up and down the ticket.
