Friend -- I got an early start in Democratic politics. When I was just eight years old, my dad ran for school board in Cayuga County, New York -- and that was my first campaign. I got paid (in comic books!), and it showed me the importance of public service and the role our political process plays in people's lives. It was so inspiring for me to see my dad, who worked in a steel mill, and my mom, a nurse, working so hard every day to support our family while also taking the time to be active and engaged members of our community. They wanted to do their part to make it a better place not only for their kids, but also for our friends and neighbors to grow up. And that's why I'm a Democrat. Now I want to hear your story. Why are you proud to be a Democrat? After last week's debate, I'm as proud as ever to get to work every day for the party with the candidates whose policies will help hardworking American families succeed. From creating an economy that benefits all Americans -- not just the wealthiest -- to leading the way on important policy changes like paid family leave, our party is paving the way for the future of this country. I have to imagine the record-breaking 15.8 million people watching CNN last Tuesday were pretty impressed by what they heard. If you were one of them, or if you're standing behind our candidates no matter what, then I'd love to hear from you! Add your name and share why you're as proud as I am to call yourself a Democrat: http://my.democrats.org/Why-Are-You-Proud Our party is so great because it is made up of supporters like you. Thanks for standing with us. Next stop: Iowa, for our next debate on November 14th. I can't wait! All the best, Amy Amy K. Dacey Chief Executive Officer Democratic National Committee |
