Well, a couple days ago, my Republican colleagues allowed a clean spending bill to move forward and avoided a government shutdown. At least for now. But I'm not expecting any applause -- and you certainly shouldn't give any. Because coming this close to a shutdown is incredibly irresponsible. I can hardly believe we almost sent thousands of employees home and closed down critical government services because of such a ridiculous proposition as defunding Planned Parenthood. But you know, I really shouldn't be surprised. Because when we have a Republican majority in the House and in the Senate, bad things -- irresponsible things -- have a way of happening. That's why it's incredibly important to send a message that we won't stand for this kind of governing by crisis. So add your name right now: http://my.democrats.org/Stop-the-Next-GOP-Shutdown Thank you. Thank you for everything. Debbie Debbie Wasserman Schultz Chair Democratic National Committee |
