Pat,
The USPS is one of our nation's oldest and most valued institutions. Millions of Americans every day rely on the Postal Service to receive medication, paychecks, and simple pleasures like notes from friends and family. But the USPS is due to run out of money in a few short months, and Donald Trump and Republicans are refusing to step in and save it.
This would be an unmitigated disaster. Now more than ever, when we're limiting unnecessary trips in order to stay safe, we need to be able to rely on a functioning Postal Service. It's an example of exactly what good government can do, and we can't afford to sit back while Trump and the Republicans dismantle this invaluable public service.
We're running out of time -- we must come together now to save the USPS. Add your name to demand it be properly funded before it's too late:
If we allow Republicans to destroy the USPS, it could upend the livelihoods of hundreds of thousands of hardworking postal workers amid a global health crisis -- all while unemployment numbers continue to skyrocket. Hundreds of thousands of postal workers continue to work on the front lines during this crisis, keeping our economy going by making sure we all have what we need.
We cannot abandon these frontline workers in this critical moment -- nor can we fail an institution that's central to connecting rural, poor, and Native communities to their needs. That's why I'm asking you to speak out:
Add your name now to demand that Trump and the Republicans do the right thing and properly fund the USPS. A global pandemic is no time to play politics with public services.
As Democrats, we believe that our government should work for the people, and the Postal Service is a shining example of just that. It's on all of us to stand up for what's right in this moment and ensure that thousands of postal workers keep their jobs.
In unity,
Tom
