Hey, Pat -- Sam here from the DNC's senior leadership team. I wanted to shoot you an email this afternoon because Seema and I have started briefing our 2020 Democratic presidential campaigns about some of our goals for Q4 -- the last three months of the year -- and how they will help our eventual nominee and Democrats down ballot. Since you donated to the DNC in 2016, I thought it was just as important that you also get a close look at our party's strategy going into the final portion of the year, and what it means for our efforts to beat Trump and elect Democrats up and down the ballot. I won't lie, Pat, I'm about to get pretty into the weeds about our 2020 plans. But I hope you'll keep reading, and then make a $3 investment in the Democratic Party to grow these programs and help Democrats win everywhere next year. Okay, let's dive right in. In this first memo, I want to tell you about the DNC's four pillars that guide our strategic investments for 2020. They are:
Democrats' performance in 2020 rests on each of these pillars, Pat -- none is more important than the other. But this work can't happen without a fully funded DNC and a tremendous amount of time and work. Our team at DNC Headquarters and in state parties all around the country are working overtime to build the strong party infrastructure that Democrats everywhere -- including our eventual presidential nominee -- will rely on to beat Trump and the GOP's machine. Now that you're versed on the DNC's four pillars, I'd like to highlight just two of our party's highest priorities for Q4: The Democratic Party is taking a boots-on-the-ground approach to organizing early in critical battleground states. Think about it this way: We know our nominee will need these organizers, volunteers, and neighborhood team leaders. But if we can build these teams now on behalf of the nominee, as opposed to starting next July, we'll have almost a year head start. We know our eventual nominee has to have as many paths to victory as possible, which is why the DNC is already funding organizers in Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Texas, Wisconsin, and elsewhere. We can expand that list with your support, so I am urging you to support our critical organizing efforts and other vital programs with an investment today. As a party and as a country, we are under attack. We can have the best campaign teams across the country, but if we're not investing in securing those campaigns, the work might not matter. So, we're focused on continuing to bolster campaign cybersecurity and strengthen our internal operation aimed at fighting disinformation. It's clear that President Trump and his allies in Congress have no interest in taking serious steps to protect our elections from foreign adversaries. The DNC must lead that work. Members of our best-in-class cybersecurity team are already working directly with 2020 presidential campaigns and down-ballot candidates alike to ensure they're utilizing cybersecurity best practices, and we're fighting disinformation with a first-of-its-kind DNC program to identify, report, and resolve disinformation online. Pat, thank you for letting me walk through some of the 2020 programs the DNC is focusing on in the final quarter of the year. There's a ton more happening here, so I'll send another update soon highlighting additional strategies, along with the programs and tactics we're deploying to execute them. It's so important to me that you, as a vital member of this team, know what we're doing right now to ensure we put a Democrat in the White House and in seats in every ZIP code. Only together can we build a party that can take on Donald Trump and Republicans in a few short months. We're proud of these programs and want to keep growing them, but without the funding we need to operate our critical 2020 efforts, our eventual nominee and Democrats down the ticket could be in serious jeopardy in the general election. We can't risk falling short of our benchmarks or making cuts to these programs, so I'll ask you once more: Thank you for all you do. I'll send more updates soon. Sam Sam Cornale |
