Hey, Pat! My old boss, President Barack Obama, recently sent a letter to some folks about the importance of the Democratic National Committee -- and as one of our best supporters, I wanted to make sure you saw it, too. I hope you'll take a few minutes to read his letter and then donate to the DNC's Democratic Unity Fund for the first time this year. All my best, Tom PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA Last fall, our Party set a new standard at the ballot box, breaking records for turnout and ushering in a new wave of leaders who better reflect the America we see in our communities and workplaces every day. And now, the presidential campaign is picking up steam and building off that momentum. That's good -- because when it comes to the 2020 election, the stakes couldn't be higher. But here's the thing: No matter who our Democratic presidential nominee is, next year is our chance to make sure that our shared values are represented in the Oval Office -- our values of decency, honesty, and progress; our belief in expanding opportunity for everyone, no matter what we look like, how we worship, or who we love. That's why I am so proud to talk to you about the DNC's Democratic Unity Fund. No candidate, committee, or supporter can win alone, which is something I learned firsthand back in 2008 and again in 2012. I know that it's going to take all of us working together, doing everything we can, to make sure we're in the best position when it comes time to vote -- and I don't just mean voting for president. This is about making progress on every issue, in every office, and at every level. All of us as Democrats share a concern for the impacts of climate change. We share the belief that immigrants strengthen our country. We support access to affordable health care for all Americans. And we believe that we should make it easier for all Americans to vote -- not harder. These are some of the causes that unite us. And they're what will ignite our drive toward the 2020 election, which is why the Democratic Unity Fund is a promise -- a promise that whoever earns our nomination will have a strong, unified, and well-prepared DNC ready to lift them to victory the moment the general election starts. But it's not going to be easy. It's going to take a lot of hard work, and we need your support. That's why I'm asking you to help us build the Democratic Unity Fund by contributing today. Your donation will help the DNC to invest heavily in the infrastructure and programs we need if we're going to win in 2020. If we take the steps that are demanded of us today, tomorrow we can create a level playing field for hardworking families. We can slow our country's gun violence epidemic and keep up efforts to fight climate change for a safer, healthier future. We can ensure fair pay, equal rights, access to health care, a world-class education, and so much more for every American -- because prosperity should not be reserved for those at the top. The change we need won't come from one election alone, and if we win in 2020, our work won't stop there. We'll need to support the next generation of Democratic leaders once they're in office. But we need to get there first -- and that commitment starts now. The stakes couldn't be higher. I can't tell you how much I appreciate your generous donation to the Democratic Unity Fund. Thank you, as always, for your unwavering commitment to the values we believe in. Sincerely, President Barack Obama
