Mitch McConnell had to turn off his phone

DemocratsJoin us.
Friend --

All last week, we asked grassroots supporters like you to call Senate Republicans and tell them to hold hearings and confirm Chief Judge Merrick Garland -- and I couldn't be more proud of the results.

Thousands of Democrats picked up their phones and made their voices heard -- in fact, so many of you called Mitch McConnell that he had to turn his phones off "due to high volume." That's pretty impressive.

And those of you who got through to your senators had a lot of great things to say. Like Joshua in Texas, who responded to Senator Cornyn's lame excuses about waiting for the next President by reminding him that the American people "voted for Obama to decide," and Marlene in Wisconsin, who told Senator Johnson's office that the Senator "is not upholding the Constitution and is not doing his job." Then there's Paul in New Hampshire, who didn't let Senator Ayotte off the hook just for holding a meeting with Chief Judge Garland, telling her that a "meeting is great, but I'm calling to ask her to change her position and please support a hearing and a vote on Judge Garland's nomination."

Work like this reminds me that we're on the right side of history, and makes me even more proud to stand with all of you who made your voices heard. And for every ounce of stubbornness McConnell and his fellow Senate Republicans put into blocking this nomination process, we have to push back ten times as hard to take back control of the Senate in November so we can heave leaders in Washington who will respect the Constitution and work for the people.

So, I want to thank you so, so much for everything you're doing -- and ask you to add your name if you're ready to keep on fighting:

Thanks again. We really do appreciate everything you're doing to hold Republicans accountable.

All the best,
