You know the drill: Another week, another Team Joe newsletter highlighting what President Biden is doing to build a better America.
Let's dive right in >>
PRESIDENT BIDEN'S BUDGET
Elected officials talk a lot about values; about what's important to them. But as President Biden always says, "Don't tell me what you value -- show me your budget, and I'll tell you what you value."
Well, this month, President Biden laid out a budget that's built around four key values:
1️⃣ Lowering Costs for American Families: From health care and prescription drugs to housing and utilities, the White House budget aims to give folks more breathing room at the end of each month.
2️⃣ Protecting and Strengthening Medicare and Social Security: The White House budget positions us to protect and strengthen bedrock programs that Americans have paid into their entire working lives. In fact, President Biden's budget will secure Medicare through 2050 and beyond -- without cutting a single penny in benefits.
3️⃣ Investing in America: The proposed budget will provide funding to boost American manufacturing, provide national paid sick and parental leave, cut taxes for working families, make communities safer, drive medical breakthroughs in cancer, deliver for our veterans, and more. Why? Because workers power our economy -- and when they thrive, our economy thrives.
4️⃣ Cutting the Deficit: Building on President Biden's record of fiscal responsibility, the budget plans to cut deficits by nearly $3 trillion over the next decade by asking the wealthy and big corporations to pay their fair share, as well as cutting wasteful spending on special interests for Big Pharma and Big Oil.
How about that? If a fiscal budget is a values statement, your president values lowering costs for families, protecting and strengthening bedrock programs, investing in the American people, and cutting the deficit.

REDUCING GUN VIOLENCE AND MAKING OUR COMMUNITIES SAFER
On Wednesday, President Biden signed an executive order to move the U.S. as close to universal background checks as possible without additional legislation, keep more guns out of dangerous hands by increasing public awareness around and appropriate use of "red flag" laws, strengthen efforts to hold the gun industry accountable, and accelerate law enforcement efforts to identify and apprehend the shooters menacing our communities.
These measures will keep communities safer, and it's only the latest action the Biden-Harris administration is taking to save lives.
