| |  |  Team -- big news! The Senate just passed the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act -- a bipartisan bill that will support a once-in-a-generation investment in our nation's infrastructure. Now, the bill will go to the House for a final vote before President Biden signs it into law. The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act will help grow our economy, create good-paying union jobs, and position American workers, farmers, and businesses to compete and win in the 21st century. All while: - Modernizing our nation's infrastructure: Over $100 billion will go toward upgrading our worn-down bridges and highways, $39 billion will modernize public transit, and this bill will make the largest federal investment in passenger rail since the creation of Amtrak.
- Expanding broadband: This bill will help ensure that every American household has access to affordable, reliable high-speed internet -- because internet is infrastructure.
- Tackling the climate crisis: Creating a competitive economy means creating a sustainable economy. This bill will support the largest investment in clean energy and electric vehicle infrastructure in history -- and electrify thousands of school and transit buses across the country.
- And providing clean drinking water: This bill marks the largest investment in clean drinking water and waste water infrastructure in American history -- and will help replace all of the nation's lead pipes and deliver clean drinking water to millions of families.
The bill not only signals to the world that our democracy can function, deliver, and do big things -- it demonstrates what is possible when Democrats are leading the charge.
