Pat, I don't think it's a stretch to label Donald Trump's first year in the White House as... bad. In fact, I think it's fair to call it an abject failure. Here's why: He's moving America in the wrong direction.Trump's using the presidency to roll back economic and environmental policies that create jobs and keep our planet safe. He's failed to stand up during moments of crisis, empowered white nationalists and supremacists, and he's made cabinet and judicial appointments who possess conflicts of interest and lack basic prerequisite knowledge for their jobs. He's abusing the public trust.Trump attacks members of the free press daily while lashing out against anyone who speaks truthfully about his presidency. Oh yeah, he's also told an average of more than five lies to the American people per day. He's lined up the whole GOP right behind him.Through it all, Republicans in Congress have enabled Trump at every turn. They've voted for his tax scam, applauded his attempts to undermine affordable health care, and high-fived one another while families are torn apart because of his bigoted Muslim ban and DACA repeal. This year has been filled with poorly-weighed decisions and shameful moments -- but if there's been one bright spot in 2017, it's this: the persistence of grassroots Democrats. From the Women's March on January 21st to Election Night in Alabama on December 12th, Democrats have come together to fight back against Trump and the GOP at every turn. If we keep that up in 2018, we can win back Congress. But we won't be in a position to hit the ground running in all 50 states in the new year if we don't hit our 2017 fundraising goal. Chip in $10 or more before our FEC fundraising deadline to help Democrats start 2018 strong. QUICK DONATE: $25 QUICK DONATE: $50 QUICK DONATE: $100 QUICK DONATE: $200 Or donate another amount.
